A Colliding SYmphonies Prologue. . ..
By TJ Hamilton
C&C welcome
There are few things that man will seldom understand fully in his lifetime. Some
men try to counter this by having what they think are simple lives. I learned
long ago that there is no such thing. The only thing that makes a man think his
life is complex is because he refuses the choices that are presened to him.
I like to chose. It means I can keep moving along my path.
One of the things man will seldom understand is himself. This is rivaled only by
the universe. Standing over Sagat and having succesfully challenged a skilled
man for the duration of what seemed to be almost 3 hours, I now know myself. I
am the art right now. Every cell in my body is one with the world around it,
even in the horrendous storm and the howling winds. Me, and my opponent, who is
at the moment clutching his bloody chest and heaving loudly. I myself am showing
my signs of fatigue, my chest is pounding and my sides hurt. I try to tell
myself that it was probably the thai kicks he kept planting on my ribs.
What do I know?
Sagat made a motion to stand, but decided to kneel instead first. His eye met
mine, it showed a horrid kind of rage I expected to see in drunken street trash,
not this great man. He moved to stand again, but checked his balance as he
continued to hold his chest.
The blow I dealt him was not Shoryuken, for the technique I was taught was not
as lethal as that. Yet I must have tapped something. Master Gouken once
mentioned that the secret techniques of Shotokan were made less lethal to aid in
the improvement of a warrior. Perhaps. . .shin-shoryuken . .
Sagat wasn't going to give me any more time to think about it. Is he mad? The
blow I dealt him could be fatal and he's wildly running at me? I gather my
power, channeling my ki carefully. Sagat reached for me in a wild grab.
"HA-DOU-KEN!" I ejected my ki on the air in front of me, my power casuing a
violent ripple wave in the air. It pummeled Sagats chest, causing blud to
splatter, as he fell to the ground, senseless, or dead.
I assumed ZenKutsu, awaiting him to rise. When he did not, I left. The rain
began to fall as I walked.
I knew someone had watched me, me and Sagat.
I did not care.
I choose to walk.
Gotta keep moving. My path isn't getting any shorter.
