That's because the Ranma 1/2 universe offers countless possibilities for

Did you ever stop and think that there might be a *reason* why this is the
case?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your intent, but this seems to be implying that
Ranma is somehow 'more worthy' than other series, and this is why it's got
a lot of fanfiction based on it out there?

*cough* Sigh... will be quiet. Will sit on hands and hush... oh wait. That
means I can't type. =P

Don't take this the wrong way, but the main reason Ranma is a popular
topic for fanfiction is probably that it's easy to get ahold of
translated, a lot of people have seen or read it, and it's also often (as
a result of being easy to obtain) very often the series that is used to
introduce someone to anime.

*nod* VV true. While there is _quite_ a lot of room, if only because there
is no real development of the situation (ie, read plot...) it's because you
know what the _heck_ them peoples are saying that you wanna write about them.

For the same reason Sailor Moon (particularly dubbed Sailor Moon) stories
have begun to pick up recently...what with the dub having been on the air,
it was easily accessible and so people were familiar with the characters
(or figured they were, anyway - but that's another discussion entirely).

*hmm* Well, close enough. Sorta. =P

Likewise, I think _Shoujo Kakumei Utena_ (Revolutionary Girl Utena) would
be an excellent series to write fanfiction around (tangled plot, character
depth, series director in need of medication as badly as Anno was while
making Evangelion) but as it's never been translated, I don't think it's
likely to become a popular fanfic category anytime soon.

Well, the other reason, of course, is that even people who do understand
Japanese do _NOT_ know what the HECK is going on w/Utena. Good god. Just
got manga #3 and tape #5, and I can saw with all certainty that... I HAVE
NO CLUE! =P
TV has deviated about as strangely as Hamelin manga/anime (another fine
ffic source, mind you) and it's really, really confusing. Waah. I wanna why
Mick is timing things... and what the heck is going on betwwen Anci and
bro... On the other hand, I must say that Deios is very, very cool. *meow*

Other good stuff for fanficking.. erm. Angel Sanctuary? Very, Very
confused, but you could fill in _so_ much about their present/past lives,
like why Alexial happened to -- or why Roshiel.. etc. For longer mangas,
how about Patarilo! ^_^ Because there's no plot in that either.. or Rurouni
Kenshin! A relatively new, but translated show, that is very very good. Or
LoGH, which has 42 eps translated, and there is a whole lot of source
material, or...

Well, the list goes on. I'm hoping that some fanfics come out from some of
those shows... even if I don't do it =P Tho I am planning a few here and
there...

<Manga Harmel> Money! Give me money!
<Anime Haamel> *sob* -Angst angst angst...-
<Flute> Oh, Shut UP!

^_^ Sorry, just a bit of MPSing, try not to do it too often. Bad for mind...

Just felt a need to put in $0.02 there.

*CACHING!* =P
