Well, the 25 October will be an interesting date for the Synopses
Lists.
Why? Because it's the six month anniversery of the Synopses Lists. And it's
the last time I shall release a Weekly List. After the Weekly Synopses
List for the week ending 25 October is sent, I shall retire from the
position of "FFML Weekly Synopses Lists Maintainer".
When the synopsis idea was originally bandied around, I saw it and
thought 'This just is not going to go anywhere. People will talk about
it for a few days, and nothing will be done.' I'd seen it before, I'll
see it again. But I thought the idea of the synopses list was a good one.
So I volunteered to do it. From the start, my plan was to keep this going
for a fair while, try to make it an integral part of the FFML, and then
bow out when I thought the time was right, hoping that others would want
to see the (by-now) established service continue, and that they would help
to keep it continue.
I've done my bit. I did this for six months. For anyone who wants to sit
on the sidelines and sneer at the "End of the Synopses List", do it on
your own time, I don't want to hear it. I put a lot of effort into keeping
this going, and so did the people who actually sent in synopses.
To each and every author who ever sent me a synopsis, to everyone else
who ever wrote to me about the Lists, in fact, to everyone who ever read
the lists and used them: THANK YOU.
Now, it's up to one of you whether the Synopses continue or not. If someone
wants to take over the role, please, step forward.
If not, that's a true pity. I kept it going this long, I would like it to
continue. It's just that I won't be the one to do it.
Still, don't let this stop you from sending synopses just yet. Even if no-one
does come forward to take my role, there are still three more Lists to go
out. Until the very last List is sent, I'm open for business.
