It seems to me that I've read that in the Japanese version, Rei as a
Shinto priestess has no use for Usage's Christianity.  But she is unable
to stay away from Usage because of the personal attraction.  *If* this is
true, give her a closet status.

So Usagi is identified as being Christian in the Manga?

And why does Rei go to a Catholic girl's school if she has no use for
Christianity? :)
