An hour of walking couldn't have taken him here, could it?
Of course not! He got there in the first five minutes! ;-)

They sat in companionable silence for a while after that. Akane

Kasumi Tendo hummed a catchy tune as she prepared dinner. If
someone had looked closely, they would have noticed that she was a
bit distracted, her thought on what had happened at the clinic
earlier when she came to return a book.
That last clause is messed up; not sure what it's supposed to be.
Seeing his bewildered expression, she decided to elaborate. "It
was a picture of my mother after she and father got engaged. I guess
it's the main reason why we like having Akane over so much. It's
like having mother back with us, even for a little while."
Hasn't anyone remarked yet on the fact that Akane has the same name as
the long lost Tendo sister? I know they're not the most perceptive
people in the world, but c'mon....
Her mind automatically wandered from the mundane task, and she

Her brushing slowed to a stop as she wondered aloud, "Do you
think anyone could ever love me like that, P-chan?"
"Goodness! He's shaking his head 'no'! Isn't that cute!" :-)
Whatever answer she was waiting for never came forth. The piglet
was already fast asleep.
Dinner time! :-)
AUTHORS NOTES: This chapter was supposed to be totally serious, but I
couldn't help myself ^_^
Don't try to fight it. I don't know if I've *ever* managed to write a
totally serious fic.
Interesting that you should switch genres at this time. The romantic
stuff came up a little abruptly maybe, but it was well done. Leaves me a
bit bewildered as to where this is all heading, but I guess we'll find
out!
