I don't think I agree with this "calm demeanor".Ranma, despite his

Maybe making him incredibly sleepy would work better?
Someone pointed out to me that Ranma has
already seen this particular mecha in a previous
episode of SurRealWorld, so drop my comment here.

Be consistent. Either he's "Kasuga" or "Kyosuke".Personally I'd lean on
the latter as you are referring
to everyone else by their given names.

What's wrong with referring to either? They're both his name.
I just switch up for variety, but if it's generally an incorrect
thing to do....
OK, it depends on how "serious" you are on
Japanese culture in general. This being a
sit-com "anime", perhaps it's not that big a deal.

In Japan, referring to someone by their given
name as opposed to their family name is a directly
different way to address someone. It either
implies a familiarity or an intimacy that would
be offensive to use if the closeness wasn't in fact
there. The reason Kasuga refers to Ayukawa by
her family name instead of "Madoka" (to her face)
is that doing the latter would be offensive
(or extremely forward at the least).

Regarding the "confusion". A few years ago,
when Animeigo released the KOR OVAs on tape, there
was a big uproar on rec.arts.anime (at the time)
on "why is the subtitles different from the
spoken names"? Lots of people were getting
the mistaken idea that "Madoka" was some kind of
nick-name or something. When Animeigo released the
LDs, they wrote an introductory essay about
names and Japanese culture just to clear it up.

Now, in this case, it may not be a big deal,
and if not, I'll drop the subject. We may
believe that today's anime fan is a lot more
savvy about Japanese culture and would not be
confused.

Oh come on...Given Washu's personality and the general
antipathy that Ataru has generated for himself
among the group, she should play with his
mind some...
("Wait a minute...wasn't that the egg over there?").

'Oh come on'? Pardon?
I meant to say that Washu should be playing with
Ataru's mind a bit; I felt that not doing so would
be a missed opportunity in comedy (and torture for
Ataru).

Again, be consistent with the family/given names. It might confuse
readers.

Well, if it bothers'em that much...
See above. Your call.

Similar for Washu, just because she's a "super-genius",
she doesn't necessarily know how to bowl.

This is debatable. So, everyone in the ffml...
whadaya say? I put the question to you.

Would Washu be a good bowler?
Sigh...my first commmentary on the FFML in a while and
I start a big uproar on it. Most people seem to believe
that she would be a good bowler by virtue of her
"20000 yrs of experience", so I guess it's your call.

Well... bowling a few times myself... some I know
take to bowling alarmingly quick.... others are
slow. Me? I'm averaging a meager 140 these days.
There's a difference between picking it up
quickly and tossing 300 games w/ no experience.
But whatever. I guess do what ever you feel
works best for the story.
