Well, I'm back from two days of wild insanity, and I thought I'd
share. *grin*

The first bit was losing my ride for 8 hours. Blain, the man who I
was paying to drive me to Denver was suddenly put on overtime, and told
that if he left, he'd lose his job. Sooo... I didn't get to the hotel
until 11 pm. Auggggh.

Headed straight to my room, ordered a sandwich, ate it and went to
sleep.

Next morning things got a LOT better. The Anime room was showing
Macross 7, parts 1 & 2. Excellent, albiet slightly confusing to someone
who grew up with Robotech. (DIE, MACEK, DIE!)

Went shopping then, and picked up the Bubblegum Crisis Best
Collection.. 16 tracks taken from Vols. 1 & 2 of the Vocal Collections.
Very nice, and I'm listening to it now. (heh. I've programmed in 'Konya
Wa Hurricane' and 'Mad Machine' with infinite repeat. *smirk*)

I also ended up buying a _pre_ print version of the BGC game
sourcebook, Bubblegun Crisis:Before and After. The owner, famous Trek
cartoonist (and artist for author Alan Dean Foster) Michael Goodwin was
holding his regular 'cleaning out my basement sale' at the con, and he'd
been sent an early copy for him to review. Now it was on sale for $15.
YEAH!

And serveral of US were mentioned, folks.. the FFML and RAAC, that
is. In the credits and thank-you's I managed to find the following folks
fondly thanked by the authors... Jeanne Hedge; the current ruler of RAAC,
Brian Edmunds; Andy Skuse; Shawn Hagen; Andy McDermott; and
alt.fan.bgcrisis regular Ben Cantrick.

      Coolness, eh? *grin*

Ate a truly INCREDIBLE lunch, at equally incredible PRICES, then
went to see the guest stars. Richard Hatch (Captain Apollo/Battlestar
Galactica), Nana Visitor (Major Kira/DS9) and Michael O'Hare (Commander
Sinclair/B5). We were told, however, that Mr Hatch was called away on
urgent personal business. Little did we know...

More shopping, more anime, and then off to the night's
entertainment. that's when I, and the entire audience, were victimized by
what had to be the greatest practical joke in history.

The Not Ready For StarCon Live Players put on their traditional
StarCon Saturday Night Live show, including a parody play based on
ST:First Contact.

        That's when IT happened. 8-)

Remember, they'd told us Mr. Hatch had left on URGENT personal
business...

The person playing 'Data' was giving his lines about the Borg
beacon being built in the Enterprise's deflector dish, and he said..

"It could provide a beacon to any ships that are LOST IN SPACE, or
even A RAG-TAG FLEET, DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR A WAY TO THAT SHINING
PLANET KNOWN AS EAR.."

At that point, dressed in a suit similar to what Colonial Warriors
wore, Richard leapt out from behind the stage and grabbed 'Data', shouting
"Where is Earth?! Where?!"

Then he ran down into the audience and begain grabbing members of
the audience, shouting the same question. "Where is Earth? You've got
the help me find Earth!"

After that, he ran out the door. 8-)

When the play ended, he came on stage on more time and took a bow
with the rest of the players. Heh.

More movies and anime... I won a doorprize for getting my Green
Card stamped nine times. Did I mention that the theme was Men In Black?
We had convention Staffers In Black. *grin* I won a promotional baseball
cap for the up-coming movie, "The Devil's Advocate".

X-rated anime late that night.. missed it myself when friends from
another mailing list came to visit me. Drat. 8-)

      Sunday...

Caught two episodes of Ranma.. in the Viz Video 'Smells like Evil
Spirit.' Loved seeing the villain Copycat Ken, and nearly lost control
when Ken begged Happosai to allow him to become a disciple of the Hentai
School.. heheheh..

After that, the subbed version of Sailor Moon S... uncut. Nice to
watch that show when it isn't DIC'ed up. *grin*

Skipped the last two hours in order to beat the traffic in Denver.
Pity.. missed a chance to see 2 hours of Dirty Pair, TV version. I did
manage to ask a special favor of Michael O'Hare.. to my surprise, he said
yes to my request, and for reasons I don't understand, the entire room
stood up and applauded _me_. God knows why. *shrug*

Arrived home late that night.. about eight pm, put away all the
goodies I got, opened my mail and fainted. 200+ messages. Heh.

      And that's all, folks!

Ed Becerra, a very _tired_ guest #000106 at StarCon '97, who's motto
was...

"See the Convention again.. for the First Time."

      Hehehe.
