This goes right after Nabiki's scream at the end of 'Awakenings and
Journeys' Chapter one.
--------
Ranma's eyes shot open at the sound of Nabiki's scream. Akane's sister
was in danger, and he had promised that nothing would happen to her. He
always kept his word. He caught sight of the false nurse.
At the same time, Ryoga lept from the window sill where he was napping,
grabbing the katana in flight. <It weighs less then my umbrella, but
the technique is the same, right?> He saw Nabiki's attacker looming
over her.
Ranma pushed off the arms of the chair, sending himself into a flying
somersault, that he finished with a falling heel kick. Ryoga launched a
cross slash aimed at the attacker's stomache. Both were fluid grace,
and superbly executed.
The nurse closed her eyes and pushed slightly with her mind.
Ranma went crashing into the wall, a loud thunk being heard as his head
made intimate contact with the concrete. Ryoga was sent flying back
towards the window.
The broken glass resonated in Nabiki's mind. She stopped screaming and
turned her gaze to where the window used to be. She saw no signs of
Ryoga. <Wait. There... on the bottom...> Nabiki saw the hand holing
onto the inside sill, and the bloodied shard of glass sticking out of
the back of his palm.
Nabiki turned back to the nurse, her terror melted by the icy fire of
hate. <This bitch attacked me, hurt Ranma and Ryoga, and is now going
to try and kill me? I _don't_ think so.> And Nabiki reached mentally.
The woman felt a presence in her mind. Probing. Looking. She shrugged
it off, and advanced on the teenager sitting up in the hospital bed.
She managed to get off a single step before she felt it.
Nabiki started serching the woman's mind, looking for one specific
place. Once she found it, she reached her arm out, and started to
clench her hand slowly.
The woman felt it almost immediatly. Her heart started to beat faster,
her breathing quickened, and her hormones raged. <This little mageling
bitch is trying to kill me!> she thought. She tried to take a step
forward, but she couldn't move her legs.
Nabiki was glad that she had payed attention in her biology class. The
Cerebellum controled all the involuntary actions the human body took.
Heart beating, breathing, and the like. "I wonder... what would happen
if I told your heart to start beating with a pulse rate of 200 beats...
per second? Do you think your heart would explode?"
Nabiki twisted her fist a little, as if she were turning a knob.
The woman felt her heart rate increase. She collapsed in pain. <It
must be somewhere around 250 now...>
"Who sent you?"
The woman moaned in pain, but didn't say anything. Nabiki shrugged her
shoulders, and twisted her fist a little more.
300.
"Who?" Nabiki demanded.
"You'll never beat us. We're more powerful then your puny Traditions,
or the shitty Technocracy. The Dark Lords will defeat you all." the
woman said as she writhed on the floor.
"Suit yourself." Nabiki twisted her fist around as far as it would go.
350. 400. 500. 700. 1000. 1500. 4000.
And with a shriek of pure, undistilled pain, the woman's heart exploded.
Bits of gore and shards of bone went flying as her chest burst under
the strain. Blood flowed from her mouth, and pooled on the floor
beneath her.
Nabiki collapsed, exhausted... and violently ill.
-----
That's the fight scene. Please let me know what needs work. Was I
graphic enough? Too graphic? How was the pacing?
As a note, I know that the heart would explode way before reaching 4000
beats per minute, but hey, I do get dramatic liecense, don't I?
Also, I'm not entirely sure if it is infact the cerebellum that controls
involuntary action or not. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
