Ranma: Ad Infinitum
-------------------
"Ranma, this is not going to work." Akane looked as stunningly
beautiful in her wedding dress as she had the first time they tried to get
married.
"Sure it will! A western ceremony to make it faster, and nobody
but family knows about it." Ranma looked rather handsome in his tuxedo.
The major difference this time around, was that he was wearing it much
more willingly.
"Yes, but what if Nabiki sold-"
"Akane, would she really do that?"
Akane stared at Ranma until a deep blush covered his face. He
looked away, and cleared his throat a few times. "Ok, yeah, maybe she
would. Look, you wanna get married, right? So let's at least try."
Akane sighed, and nodded. "Go on up to the front." She smiled
bravely. 'Please let this work.'
*****
The ceremony progressed rapidly, as all the trappings of Western
religion were absent, leaving only the wedding.
The minister was about to ask Ranma for his vows when it happened.
A soft thud in the back of the chapel. A louder <BANG>. Then the inner
door smacked open. <SLAM!> "RANMA SAOTOME! HOW DARE YOU..."
Ranma gave his bride a weak smile. Akane giggled, and patted his
shoulder. "Next time."(1)
He sighed heavily, and patted the short ring boy standing next to
him on the head. "Maybe next time, kiddo. Your mother and I will get
married eventually."
The young boy, Ranma's son, watched as his father ran down the
aisle to deal with the uninvited guests. He reached up, and took his
mother's hand. "C'mon Mom, Dad will take care of them. Let's go back to
the Dojo."
Akane smiled, and let him lead her away. She knew Ranma would be
back as soon as he could. If only he had had a chance to take off the
tuxedo first, though... it was rental after all.
End?
Alternate (happy) ending....

The small boy looked backwards. "It's only Auntie Ukyo this time.
I guess Auntie Shampoo gave up."
Ranma nodded slowly, watching the chef's angry progress up the
aisle. "I guess ten wedding attempts finally convinced her. But
Uc-chan's as bad as..."
The small boy piped up again. "P-chan?"
Akane giggled. "Be nice, Ryo-chan. You're named after him."
Ukyo stormed up to the front and glared at the small family. "How
dare you not invite me." She sat down on the Saotome side of the chapel,
and smiled. "You may continue."
Ranma and Akane stared at each other for a moment. Before either
could react, the minister spoke up.
"Repeat after me. I Ranma..."
End
Notes: The second ending was NOT what I planned, but it's what came out
first while I was writing this. So, I've included it.
1) I kinda ran out of steam at this point. Any ideas for how to fix it?
I want to leave a subtle hint that this isn't the second wedding
attempt, but they've tried about a dozen times.
