Re: Ryouga/Akari or Ryouga/Ukyou:
I think you're getting your continuities confused. Just as Tenchi
Muyou and El Hazard have two major separate continuities, so does
Ranma: the anime and the manga. The manga was being used as an
example, and you followed up with examples from the *anime* why
this was wrong.
In the anime, Akari has not been introduced at all, and Ryouga and
Ukyou see each other a lot. This does point a little bit more
towards them, although I still think they'd have problems.
In the manga, Ryouga's affection and love for Akari, and its contrast
with his affection and love for Akane, is *the* big Ryouga arc for
the final few manga. In addition, Ryouga and Ukyou rarely appear
in the same story, and when they do meet, *they don't like each
other*. The Cursed Tunnel segment is a lot nastier in the manga
than in the anime. Ryouga and Ukyou are constantly sniping at
each other, and though US sitcoms have taught us otherwise, that's
not love.
So, here's my opinion: in the anime continuity, Ryouga and Ukyou
has about as much chance of working as any of the others. But in
the manga, Rumiko Takahashi makes it very clear over the course of
those volumes who Ryouga will end up with. Akari.
BTW, using examples from the second movie might not be such a hot
idea. The second movie is genreally disliked by most FFMLers. I
myself despise it. :-)
