MATCH 1 : DAN vs. MICHELANGELO

On Dan's side, we have total incompetence.  Strictly speaking
he should have lost.  But then again, Belldandy DID give him
moral support.  I am inclined to think that Michelangelo succumbed
to the drastic unpopularity of the TMNT in the present day.  

MATCH 2 : KASUMI vs. PRINCESS TOADSTOOL
[RESULT : WINNER KASUMI (61 votes), Princess Toadstool (6 votes)]

A total mismatch.  Nothing bad ever happens to Kasumi and 
Princess Toadstool is regularly kidnapped.  And comparing
Ranma 1/2's popularity on the list to the Mario Brothers
cartoon...  

MATCH 3 : POPURA vs. DAVID
[RESULT : WINNER DAVID (39 votes), Popura (28 votes)]

Magical girl versus looney with chainsaw.  Fundamentally
she had the edge in power, but he had the edge in mean.  
She probably succumbed to her own cuteness in the voting,
plus being from something nobody's familiar with.  

MATCH 4 : BIRDIE vs. SPLINTER
[RESULT : WINNER SPLINTER (62 votes), Birdie (5 votes).]

Physically, Birdie had an undeniable edge.  But Splinter was
just so cool in the opening scene, that Birdie never stood
a chance.  

MATCH 5 : CASEY JONES vs. M.A.D.
[RESULTS : WINNER CASEY JONES (38 votes), M.a.d (29 votes)]

M.A.D. was goofy without being all that funny.  And everyone
loves Casey Jone's Clint Eastwood impression.  

MATCH 6 : KUROKO vs. Kunou
[RESULTS : WINNER KUROKO (41), Kunou (27).]

Further proof that quiet competence tends to work better than
grandiose posturing in this tournament.  

MATCH 7 : MIZUKI vs. MARIO
[RESULTS : WINNER MARIO (47), Mizuki (20)]

Really, it shouldn't have happened.  Mizuki only needed to hit 
once.  Sympathy for the underdog seems to have played it's role
here.  

MATCH 8 : LUIGI vs. NARU
[RESULTS : WINNER NARU (52), Luigi (15)]

But that doesn't apply to people who play nasty tricks on little 
girls.  Actually though, Luigi was probably doomed in that everyone
who voted for Mario, would have voted against Luigi.  

MATCH 9 : SD-SAKURA vs. NICOTINE
[RESULTS : WINNER NICOTINE (46), SD-Sakura (21).]

A pity.  I had high hopes for that robot.  One notes that the
forces of evil are taking a pounding at this point.  Nicotine
probably got the nod on the basis of superior experience.

MATCH 10 : SAKURA vs. LORD RAPTOR
[RESULTS : WINNER SAKURA (55), Lord Raptor (12)]

Who is this Sakura person?  And why is she so popular?  
Once again, the forces of evil are lambasted.  I guess
people don't like them.  

MATCH 11 : CHIN GENZAI vs. VERMILLION
[RESULT : WINNER VERMILLION (43), Chin Genzai (25).]

Until now.  Vermilion triumphs, very possibly due to his
superior fashion sense, or maybe just because he is apparently
a Boss character.  

MATCH 12 : SIE KENSOU vs. B.B. HOOD
[RESULTS : WINNER B.B. HOOD (39), Sie Kensou (28).]

Apparently, guns impress the audience, and your opponents.

MATCH 13 : SD-AKUMA vs. ATHENA
[RESULTS : WINNER SD-AKUMA (34), Athena (33).]

Sympathy for the underdog?  One notes that after the mysterious
intervention on Sakura's behalf, evil started scoring some
victories.    

MATCH 14 : ANITA vs. UKYOU
[RESULTS : WINNER UKYOU (47), Anita (20).]

Ukyou has too many fans to lose to an autistic little girl.  

MATCH 15 : KIYONE vs. REMI
[RESULTS : WINNER KIYONE (44), Remi (23)]

And the third representative of Groove On Fight goes down to 
defeat.  Somehow I don't think that game's going to be a big
hit.  Goofy doesn't cut it.  

MATCH 16 : MIHOSHI vs. DEVILOT
[RESULTS : WINNER MIHOSHI (44 votes), Devilot (23).]

Dumb luck is of course the perfect tool against enormously
complex machinery.  Regrettable, though, since Mihoshi
is pretty irritating, and Devilot was cool.
