but thats not necessarily true. difference choices can make all the
difference. In fact sometimes drawing sharp contrasts to two similiar
characters helps better define them. If Y is your favorite character
you're going to cast Y in the best possible light. *ponder* In other
words you're going attempt to define Y clearer then X. Since Y will be
a more defined and multi faceted character then X she will obviously
have more choices availabe.
Casting your favorite character in the best possible light doesn't
necessarily mean that that character will be multi-faceted. Sometimes it
can make the character downright dull, if it takes away the character's
faults and shortcomings and leaves a character who always does what's
best for all concerned.
Most self-insertion fics and quite a lot of "new character" stories are
like this. So are many Ukyo stories IMO.
i have one question what about future stories? They are almost
alternate universe stories as well.
Almost, but the important difference is that there's no real canon to
compare them to. No one can say for sure what would have happened if
Ranma 1/2 had continued past Vol. 38 -- no one except Takahashi-sama,
and she's not telling. Some continuations are going to be more
believable than others, obviously, but that is a matter of individual
taste that different readers will disagree on.
Also, what I called the "COMPLICATIONS" step doesn't apply. There are no
new characters coming in at certain times that you have to worry about.
You do have to do "CLEAN-UP", meaning that you have to account for what
happened to the OLD characters.
