Frankly, irresponsible thoughtlessness is a staple of almost any anime.
Examples? Well, Ranma 1/2 is littered with it.
If people thought (and I don't mean plotted), Ranma 1/2 wouldn't be any
fun.  
Combustible Campus Guardress?  Hazumi's plot to 'elope' with Takumi could
have destroyed the world.  She knew it.
Fushigi Yuugi?  Hell, there are so many examples in there that I'd spend
10k at least just for a short listing.  
Urusei Yatsura is similarly soaked in thoughtlessness. 
If you want more, how about Dirty Pair?  They don't give a flying f**k,
really, or so it seems, about the destruction they cause.  Is 'It wasn't
our fault' supposed to -work-? 
Bubblegum Crisis's Priss is a FINE example of irresponsible
thoughtlessness. 
Those are just a few off-the-cuff examples. I don't believe that 
'irresponsible thoughtlessness' is any reason to dislike a story....
unless you don't like most of the anime out there.
