Actually the manga is a very serious story, with only a few sprinkles of
Comedy in it (much like some other serious anime). Certainily the manga is
much more serious any way, since it really didn't have room for the filler
epsiodes that anime used (which did lead to some good epsiodes mind you. I
tend to take the meld apporach to the manga and anime, where I take the
best aspects of both and put them together...Up to Super S where the Manga
is much superior to the anime IMHO...)
 
Anyway, to get this back on to fanfics and fanfic ideas sort of, why are
people just raining on the Senshi's parade? Sure, Neo-Queen Serenity is
all powerfull (in the anime..) and the Senshi do carry around so military
might, but they wouldn't just run up and rule the world without the people
of the planet letting them (talking about Utopia's and such...). I assume
that a lot of people are just sitting around and saying 'Hey, Sernity can
take care of this so let her handle things so let's party'. Thus they
probably sit around and let the Senshi handle everything to do with
defence and who knows what else...Very dangerous idea IMHO, and it's
probably what lead to the collapse of the Silver Millenium, for after you
defeat Sernity what else can the kingdom offer?

Just another view on Utopia's and Distopia's though, and maybe a Fanfic
idea or two...
