Well, yeah.  She's got a reputation as an ice queen, not a zombie.
And it's not as if she hugged Priss and they started crying together.
The point is, she rarely shows fear, anger or sorrow, doesn't get
excited about stuff, has no love life (that we can see) and generally
only shows anything except calm amusement or professionalism under the
most dire circumstances.  But she's still a human being...mostly.

But she does loosen up on occassion. Like in BGC4, when she's sitting around
in her robe, doing her nails, and laughing at Priss "fighting" with Dr.
Raven. Or in BGC8, when she seems to be snickering at Priss and Linna
picking on Nene after Nene's stellar performance in the simulator

She also burst out laughing with Priss and Linna at dinner in BGC4 when
picking on Nene about "always talking about your dream. you have no sense
of reality" (Don't shoot me if I didn't get the quote right! =P) And I
could almost swear it looked like Sylia was about to cry in BGC3 after
killing Mason. But with her face shield down how could we tell? Priss does
the same thing in BGC6.
