I can see this as being funny. but I can't see it as being deliberate.
How about a spell that turns Soun, Genma and Nodoka into pre teens, but
leaves Ranma and Akane the same. They have to cope with their suddenly
imature parents. Not that Genma was ever that mature.

One very funny bit, would be if Soun was the same apparent age as the
imature Miss Hinako.
