I'm actually cross-posting this to the bgc list just to see if you will
get more respondents.....well that and the gc list has fallen into the
once a year coma it slipps into about this time (for about 2 months of
the year....)


 Hmmmm...
 To break it down.
 Some thoughts...

 Priss: She's the one who seems to fall into the role of confidant most
easily in fanfics as she CARES about revenge....but maybe a little to
much. Priss can easily be blinded by this aspect. Also, there is a
bit of a cultural gap between them....or at least SEEMS to be Rocker vrs.

 Nene. a good confidant except for one thing. She simply does not have the
life experience in her short span that the lovely Miss Stingray has.
 She is (and has been) virtually (and no jokes about computer sex here)
untouched. Sylia put away all her stuffed animals and crushes on Hunks
(and if you are reading this as a possible reference to a certain
fictional hardsuited "Zone-runner" well....).
 Nene is the Knight Errantry part of the Knight Sabers (hmmmm ther's an
idea for a title)  She see's them as saviours not mercinaries and the
 and the police as failures (although she still has enough faith to still
be IN the police.)
 ( I honestly don't think that age and maturity go hand in hand.
What actually happens to a person can of course change them but it is the
persons' reaction to this that is the basis for personality. Hell, I'm 32
(well 32 and 34 odd days) old and most of my friends are anywhere from 18
to 40. I get a it worried when I realize (like I did this week) That my
father's friiends are either in their 60's or 10 years younger than me....
Ah man, I was afraid of that...I'm rambling..... where was I going....ah
yes....)
Anyway, Sylia was what 11 ? 12 ? when she "grew up" Nene didn't have to
face any of that. She, Priss and Linna might be able to help Sylia to "cut
loose"  but the  (not so )simple act of REALLY letting go might cause a
breakdown. -Or at least be the beginning of a long slow healing.

 Linna....hmmm good question. She's never been one of my favorites...and
that's the peril of an under-developed character....but has a light side
and practical side. I unfortunately can't quite get away from the little
voice inside Linna's head (one which is never heard conciously remember) 
which may be saying "what's in it for me?"
 Hopefully I'm wrong.

Mackie : about some things yes, but he's still her "little" brother.

Pops Raven : A deep respect but possibly she might fear that she might be
slipping over the deep end (sort of Priss in reverse)

Fargo: ????? maybe. I can see him as someone genuinely interested in
her....but of course not her "type."
 If she did It would almost be as if she had called him about a
contract...then she would just talk and talk about how she felt. She would
avoid talking about the 'Sabers and he wouldn't want to know if she did.
She might even cry. I think however if Fargo ever crossed the line between
fixer and client however she would simply turn off and leave leaving him
sitting bewildered (and possibly in pain depending on how he acted)

Here's a really strange suggestion.....and blame it on leaving TMN on
while reading. And here's the idea form Girl 6.
 What about a phone sex service?
 I mean her just talking to a re-assuring voice on the other end of the
phone. Someone who is making no judgements about her (as long as she does
not talk about the 'Sabers  she would be fine.) If it was Genom run it
would be interesting...
 Bloody creepy if it was a "chat line " and she was talking to Maison.
OR  
 What If it was an AI which began to "evolve" as it got more information
about feelings...another idea. 
         According to studies (and this is the reason I love my Psych
degree) people will hire escorts JUST to talk....


               Still (and probably for a year 'cause he's cheap)
                   sitting in a friends account.

Is there anyone that Sylia might ever open up to, a confidant(e) of any

I know that the anime doesn't show anything like this, but I'm looking for
reasonable suggestions. Mackie, Dr. Raven, one of the other Sabers, or
maybe someone else completely . . .
