I heard that rumor when it came out over a year ago. Nothing has been said
about it since. I think it was just a joke. The information on the web page
is over a year old as well.

Now... if you had the choice, who would you cast into the various roles
(live-action of course)?

Well, the usual.
"/" means or

Jet Li - Ranma/Ryouga/Mousse
Donney Yen	- Mousse/Ranma/Kuno
Yuen Baio	- Mousse/Gosunkugi
Jackie Chan	- Soun/Ranma
Samo Hung	- Genma & Panda (actually, he's perfect for this role.)
Anita Mui	- Nodoka/Shampoo
Joey Wong	- Akane/Shampoo/Kodachi/older Hinomiya
Yu Wong Guang - Ryouga/Soun/Ranma
Jean Wong	- Ukyou/Akane/Kasumi/older Hinomiya
Michelle Yeoh - Shampoo/Akane/Ukyou/Kodachi
Brigette Lin - Kodachi/Nodoka
Maggie Cheung - Akane/Kasumi/Nabiki
Ken Lo - Ranma/Kuno/Ryouga
etc...

with action directors like Yuen Woo-Ping, Yuen Cheung-Yan, Yuen Sun-Yi,
Kuk Hin-Chiu, Corey Yuen Kwai, or Yuen Tak.

Directed by Yuen Woo, Corey Yuen, or if more artsy, Ronnie Yu.
Produced by Tsui Hark and no other.

Why this can happen: Think Jackie Chan's City Hunter. Jackie plays someone
at most 10 yrs younger than him and that movie rocked in my opinion. Yuen
Woo-Ping, Yuen Cheung-Yan, Yuen Sun-Yi, and Kuk Hin-Chiu were the teams
from Iron Monkey (I think) And if anyone seen the last battle in Iron
Monkey, that was reminiscent of the Jusenkyo bamboo pole fight, but it was
10 times better than anything I've seen in Ranma. Corey Yuen Kwai and Yuen
Tak were the action directors in Fong Sai Yuk with their famous fight on
top of head scene (very Ranmaisque).

Why this can't happen. Anime was never meant to be live action unless
changed like City Hunter, Jackie Chan will never be in a movie which will
require him to do wire work, all these guys are in their 30s, all these
guys have probably have big egos and want equal screen time, just like
Jackie Chan's City Hunter, it'll probably not do so well in Japan, and just
because.
