There are various services which will subscribe to mailing lists from what
appear to be valid accounts - they seem to act as 'lurkers' (never
posting, only reading), but in actuality will grab addresses from a
mailing list, to be used for bulk-mailers.

HOWEVER.

I suspect this is not happening to the FFML, since other frequent posters
(such as myself) aren't getting these same solicitations. Posts to Usenet
newsgroups are quite frequently grabbed (hence why many people will do
'<myname>@<domain>.NOSPAM' for their address, and just note in their .sig
that people should remove the .NOSPAM to reply. People will notice
this... programs usually won't, since there's enough variations on it.

I only use this address for the FFML and a few other mailing lists - by
comparison, my work e-mail gets some solicitations, and my oldest e-mail
address gets more solicitations than actual e-mail! o_O; But what this
tells me is that the solicitation address-grabbing probably isn't being
done on the FFML, or I'd see some solicitations here on thekeep.

Perhaps another one of the various anime mailing lists, or there's been a
recent hit on an anime newsgroup? I only posted once to
rec.arts.anime.creative from my school address, and proceeded to get
solicitations sent there. ;P

Anyway, just to provide some info. :)
