after reading a bit on original work it made me think what makes a 
story
qualified to be called Anime or Manga?
Because I see a lot of stories, not done by japanese that would make 
great
anime/mangas


Hmmm....Japanese names/locations?  Part of the problem is that one of 
the defining characteristics of Anime/Manga, the use of space and 
imagery to convey timelessness, just doesn't appear in the written word.  
The core difference between A/M and Western counterparts is that the art 
form (comics, animation) are used in all genres, not just kid's stories.

Writing an original story with an A/M feel to it would therefore require 
a solid understanding of Japanese culture.
