Well that's what it looks like to me.  Kinda reddish brown.  Yea.

In lieu of any evidence to the contrary, I've been assuming that Genma has
brown eyes (and would have had black hair)

You know you raise a good point, just what the hell is the color of Genma's
hair when he was younger.  To my knowledge all the flashbacks that I have
seen
show him with the bandanna.  And thought I have never really checked for some
reason I seem to think that Genma's eyes are brown as well.

I guess anime is no respecter of genetics.

You know that is an understatement if I've ever heard one.
