Based very loosly off the movie of the same name.  I would like to see
someone do a serious fic with this movie, but I doubt it.  Anyway, on
with the farce!

A Phillip Masters Shortfic
Event Horizon

     Cpt. Ranma Saotome sat back in his nifty Captain's Chair.  It moved
on a track in the ceiling, so he didn't have to get up for much.  From
here, he could control his entire ship with ease.  
     He moved to the front of the ship, the main bridge.  They were on a
rescue mission to save the crew of the Event Horizon, a ship that
vanished seven years ago.  They had just come out of the acceloration
chambers a half hour ago and were approaching Neptune, where the Event
Horizon was supposed to be.
     "There's Neptune."  This came from his navigator.
     Ranma hopped out of his chair, reluctantly, and walked over to the
forward view port.  He stared out it incredulously.  "Ryoga!!  That's
PLUTO!!!"
     "What?"  This was from his left.  He turned to see Setsuna looking
at him curiously.
     "What?"  He returned, still annoyed.
     "Um, nothing."  She turned back to her post.
     He looked at Ryoga and pointed aft.  "Neptune is thataway!"  He
looked down his finger at a startled Michiru, who was just coming onto
the bridge.
     "What is it?"  He asked his second in command.
     Michiru just shook her head and glanced at Setsuna.  Then, she went
over to her post.  
     "Might as well not get settled in.  Ryoga's sent us to Pluto, so we
have to turn around and head to Neptune still."
     Everyone got up as Ryoga put in the new set of coordinates.  
     "Better check those,"  Commented Ranma, "or we could end up
wherever the Event Horizon went."
     "But, I'm trained as a navigator!"  Cried Ryoga.
     Ranma just stared at him for a second, then glanced at what he had
entered.  "Oh yea?  Then how come you're still trying to throw us into
the sun!?"
     "Sorry!!"  Ryoga yelled, then stomped off into the lower decks of
the ship.
     Ranma put in the correct set of coordinates and followed Ryoga.
Once in the hibernation chamber room, he began to prepare for the deep
sleep.  Once undressed, he looked about at his shipmates and passenger.
The Doctor who had invented the Event Horizon, Washu, was a curious
little woman.  However, she seemed competent, so he figured they had
nothing to worry about.  Right?
