Of Stars and Men

A really unskilfully written Ranma � songfic by Adrian Wong
All characters belong to Rumiko Takahashi and some others.
This fanfic is NOT meant for commercial distribution. The song is written by myself, and it
won't be legal of other people to steal it for themselves (I doubt if anyone will steal such trash
anyway ).

BTW, the ending might prove to be surprising for some people :)

[Scene opens at the Tendo dojo ten years into the future at night. On top of a tree in the yard,
two shadowy figures can be seen hiding behind the layers of leaves and branches as they peek
into the semi-open dinning room of the Tendo house. As the camera closes in on them, we see
that they are Ukyou and Shampoo. Both have matured quite a bit throughout the years, but in
ways that make them even more beautiful than before. Ukyou's profile has become graceful and
flawless, as Shampoo's face is now glamorous instead of merely pretty. Ukyou's eyes are
distant as she stares past the figure in the dinning room, singing to herself all the while.]

Ukyou: Day after day I sought,
Night after night I dreamt;

[Shows flashbacks of the teenage Ukyou offering Ranma free-food, letting the ENTIRE Tendo
clan stay at her small apartment during a time when they are in need, trying to be friendly to
Akane, fighting along Ranma's and Akane's side, and so on.]

Ukyou: Wishes not meant come true,
Goals that can't be reached,
A promise written on wind.

[Shows flashbacks of the wedding fiasco, with her and Shampoo using flash bombs to disrupt
the wedding. Genma and Soun are so pissed that they try to sue the two girls for physical
assault, and RANMA doesn't object to it, claiming that the two have gone too far in trying to
bomb Akane. Ukyou pleads with Ranma, saying that she is ruining the wedding to keep Ranma
from being trapped into marriage against his will. Ranma is NOT moved, and insists in going
along with the plan to sue her. Ukyou's heart shatters at once as she falls down in a crying
heap.]

[Cuts to the present. Shampoo is also staring at the figure in the dining room as she sings.]

Shampoo: People do like to aim
As high as they can see.

[Shows flashbacks of the teenage Shampoo giving the handsome young Ranma kiss of love,
chasing after him on her bike for dates, offering him and Akane free food, fighting along his side
on various battles, and so on.]

Shampoo: Once they have finally got there,
What else can they find?
Just an empty void.

[Shows flashback of the wedding fiasco, where Ranma has gone along with the father's plan to
cue the two girls for assault. Shampoo sees Ukyou begging for Ranma's forgiveness, only to be
heartlessly refused. Shampoo makes her try as well, only to receive a slap from Ranma that
sends her to the ground. Ranma then proceeds to verbally trash her for all the "troubles" that she
has given him over the year, with Akane looking contemptuously at her by her side. Shampoo
tastes the blood that is now reddening her lips, and looks at Ranma with disbelief in her eyes.
Just then, Ukyou gathers herself together and walks over to help Shampoo up. She then glares at
Ranma with so much heat in her eyes that he actually takes a step back from her. Taking out a
copy of the signed document of the promise between Genma and Mr. Kuonji, she states that
shall the Tendos and Saotomes take legal actions toward them, she WILL do likewise by suing
Genma Saotome for the lost of the yatai and the mental sufferings that he had caused her to
suffer for over ten years. Cologne leaps in front of the girls to face the Saotomes and Tendos
like a hawk defending her young ones, and implies that she will use all the connection that she
has to ensure the downfall of the Saotomes and the Tendos shall they dare sue Shampoo or
Ukyou. Needless to say, Genma turns into jelly and begs Soun to call off the charges toward
Ukyou, which he did reluctantly. With that, Ukyou, Shampoo and Cologne stride out of the dojo
stiffly.]

[Cuts back to the present, Ukyou is still singing as she stares into the dinning room.]

Ukyou: Light from a morning star,
Dreams from a restless sleep,
Yearning that last
Too long for a tortured soul~oul~

[Shows flashbacks of Ukyou working like a maniac by day and crying herself to sleep at night.
As her business grows, the remembered pain from being turned against by the man that she loves
dims as well. Eventually, the Ucchan becomes the dominant fast-food chain of Japan after ten
years.]

[Shampoo is singing as well as she stares at the figure in the dinning room.]

Shampoo: Why do one have to climb,
A mountain that can't be hers?

[Shows flashback of Shampoo trying to put Ranma behind her as she vigorously pursues a
political career in the Communist government system to ensure her village's right. Through
Cologne's connections, and her own craftiness, her power rises at a phenomonal rate.]

The one standing on top
Still can't touch the sky~ky~

[Cuts to a closeup of the dinning room, where the figure is shown to be an older Akane is
putting plates of toxic looking messes onto the dinning table. Her short hair is permed, giving
her slightly rounded face a matronly appearance. Her hips has widened, stretching against a pair
of pink, tight-pants that does nothing to hide her fattened legs. She has a furious scowl on her
now strained face as she yells for family to come to dinner. As her husband and son comes into
the scene, Ukyou and Shampoo are so shock at the sight that they almost fall from the tree. A
pair of twins, looking startlingly like child versions of Ranma's male and female form, are led in
. . . by a man that looks like a younger Genma with hair but without glasses?!?!?! The dark eyes
that had captivated them for so long has lost a lot of lashes, and is squeezed into smaller sizes by
the surrounding fat. The once heavy, dark brows have somehow thinned and paled on the oily
skin. The gorgeous, agile built has put on so much weight that it turns short and stubby. The
children, apparently immune to taste, proceeds to fight over the dinner as Akane began trashing
the miserable looking Ranma for bringing in so little income for the family. Apparently, the
dojo is suffering because martial arts has become outdated in Tokyo by then. ]

[Shampoo and Ukyou can only stare at the man that they had once loved so feverishly in the past
as they finish up the song.]

Shampoo: Dim pieces in the sky,

Ukyou: Light up by fantasies;

Shampoo: A prince who's but one in a thousand,

Ukyou: A mere ghost of my hopes,

Ukyou/Shampoo: A blank sheet painted with dreams.

[With that, they soundlessly creep alway from the tree and leap over the garden wall. Outside,
as they dust off the leaves and branches from they expensive designer dresses, two handsome
man in business suits comes up to them. One of them is a more mature but no less
beautiful/handsome Konatsu, now a famous singer of Japan, and the other is a more mature and
handsome Herb, now a successful politician of Communist China. The two women goes up to
their respective suitors and they leave the scene together on a classy-looking limo.]
