One, if every story must be followed by a long and indepth disscusion
with the author, why even read the fic? Without making assumption and
judgements on the fic as it stands, there is really NO way to give any
C&C at all. Did Bert come on a bit strong? Yes but taking exactly what
you wrote, he had all the evidence he needed to get a bit miffed.
Characters we create are quite dear to us, even more so then our beloved
Anime hero's, becuase we gave these creations life. Never assume we
won't fight for them. If something like this happens again, calmly tell
the other author that you never meant to steal his work, that it's all
just coincidence and that you'll work with him to see no one else makes
the same mistake. If the other author is being a jerk about it, at least
you did your best, sigh sadly as you delete his next C&C post and get on
with your life.
Two, if a character was portrayed OOC from what is normally assoiciated
in a fic, be prepared to get called on it. If you want to present
another side of the character, let it happen within the confines of the
story OR let your readers know what's going on. Otherwise, it'll simply
be seen as a mistake, one that ANY author who craves C&C wants pointed
out so he/she can better their craft. Is there a reason for the
"melting" of the "Ice Queen's Heart"? GIve it. Is there something we
never understood about her character when we so unfairly judged her?
Reviel it. But don't expect your readers to just assume that all is well
and that nothing unusual is going on. Readers are hungry people, feed
them and they'll call you their king, starve them and prepare to be
dethrowned.
Three, never respond with flames or in anger. It robs you of your
creditials, makes YOU look like the moron, and can get you a rather
nasty spanking. I've deleted the little steaming morsel in my files,
DON'T do it again. I'm a nice guy, otherwise I wouldn't have come to
your defense when Bert first posted the thing, but I will not tolerate
being flamed. A second offense will not be looked on warmly <that's a, I
say that's a joke son, warm, flame, you get it? Boy's bout as sharp as a
sack of wet mice> You have been warned.
Four, hope you get over your writers block soon. I hope this mess has
at least given you some ideas for the fic and can't wait to read it when
it comes out! No, not sarcasm, I really am a nice guy and would much
rather make a friend then an enemy. Friends? I leave the desicion up to
you.
The End "It's not unusual to love some<BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!> <Keener's
voice> I told you NO singing!

Marshmellows on the seventh who got a wee bit to close> Goodnight folks
