Since my story is being discussed, and I happen to agree 100% with Bert, I'm
going to throw my 2 cents in. SPOILERS of both stories under discussion are
below.

spoilage I guess>

Whoa, wait a sec here. Obsessed fans shooting their objects of
affection are not only part of Fanfiction, but real life as well. In
fact, I seem to remember some rather recent incident of this occuring.
The fact that Priss dies seems to point more to that Real Life tradgedy
being the inspiration rather then someone's fic. It's easy to
accidentally "steal" someone's idea. Until I wrote Suicide Blast, I had
no idea just how many Ryouga Suicide stories there were.

The point of contention isn't the idea of a stalker/fan after Priss. No one
in their right mind would claim that that is their story idea. The problem
is a bit deeper than that.

Let's do a comparison, shall we? Please pay attention to the activities of
the POV characters (Nene in "True Love", Shaelynn in "Sylia's First
Boyfriend"), and the reactions of those around them.

<snip comparison>

A bit too close for coincidence, in my opinion.

Keener: <holds bits of Fanfic in the form of a cross while hopping
backwards from Jeane> Whoa, calm down! I certainly had no intentions of
raising your ire. Please don't hurt me!

<notices the sounds of CLAMPS being cocked and the sight of seven
laser... sights (pun) begin dancing on Jeane's body>

Keener: HEY! I'm not in any danger! Put the weapons away guys, she'd
probably toast you anyways.

<the Mokonators give forlorned looks to their master and then pu-mble to
themselves as they hop away.>

Keener: <turning back to a slightly bewildered Jeane> Actually, I hadn't
read his fic. I just thought Bert was tearing into a new fic writer (at
least I hadn't heard of him before) and the guy needed a little
protection or at least someone to give some perspective to our mutual
friend Bert. If you think you have a case for ire, then by all means
feel free to pursue it. Just remember that your dealing with people's
feelings when your talking about their fics. IF he really didn't intend
any plagurism, then big guys like you coming down on him could seriously
mess him up. I mean, I'm just lucky you guys don't say one way or
another how you feel about my stuff. I'd be pretty devestated.

<Keener sighs, thinks over his next move carefully, relizes there's no
decent way to end this bit O' Spam and just does what comes naturally>

Keener: <grabbing a strawberry jelly roll from the fridge> Ummmm, want a
snack cake?
