In the abstract, I'd say you're right. In this case, besides
Kodachi having always been a bit... impulsive..., she had
definite reasons to force a confrontation at that point.
Perhaps. I think you need to spell it out a little more, show more of
the internal monologue that leads to this impulsive act. Then it would
be okay.
Sounds like a good idea.
Now, admittedly, there is precedent in the manga for Ranma to act this
way. However, I don't like that side of Ranma, and he doesn't do it
very often. If you want to paint a sympathetic picture of Ranma, avoid
having him do petty, childish, dishonorable acts like this.
I do feel a little more strongly about this, however. I just don't like
Ranma behaving that way, and it makes me dislike him intensely. My
sympathies swing towards Kodachi, which may not be what you want.
I'm leaning toward a compromise here: leaving in the scene in question,
but having Ranma realize afterwards why he shouldn't have done it.
That's more the kind of characterization I'm aiming for in this series,
characters who have flaws and make mistakes, but who try their best to
make up for them and learn from them.
Many thanks for your comments!!
No prob. Hope they're useful.
Most definitely.
