That's just the Viz translation ... the original characters do not
imply that the person who drowned there was young or old, or anything.
It only shows that it was a female who drowned. So, it would probably
be more accurate to translate it as "Spring of Drowned Female", because
"SoD Girl" confuses people and mistakingly leads them to believe that
the female Ranma is set at a "young girl" age ... (Same thing goes
for "Spring of Drowned Piglet" ... should be "Spring of Drowned Little
Black Pig" ... because I think that P-chan is a certain type of pig
that is always small. He most certainly is not a piglet!)
