Why? I'll tell you why. Because I like to write. (I also like to act, but
that's a another story.) Well, that's not true. I don't like to write. I
like to create. I like to think. I like to make others laugh, to cry, and
to throw-up.

I wish I could write. God, do I wish I could write. But, I can't. And it's
beyond me why I even try. It seems to me as though all the really good fics
are always dark or depressing. I can't write dark and depressing fics. It's
impossible for me too. I can never really be serious, and this is a REAL
big problem for me. I have failed several classes because I could not write
a serious paper. Looking at some of the lab reports I have turned in, it's
amazing I passed physics. If I can't write a serious lab report, there is
no way I can write a serious story.

be a writer: you have to do it.  You can't just think about it, talk about
it, get in touch with your feelings, or absorb it by osmosis.  It doesn't
even matter what you study, as long as you master something.  Once you learn
to do something well, you're a long way down the path to knowing how to do
anything well."

So to all begginers and frustrated writers like me...learning to write a
good piece starts by perfecting the individual parts.  If you like to be
creative, then be creative.  If you like scripts instead of prose, then hone
in on that aspect.  Sooner or later you'll learn to write prose eventually.
It's like Programming, Basic was Basic...but without it, Pascal wouldn't
have been easy to grow into, and without Pascal, I don't think C would
achieve it's popularity today. :-)
