Well, now Soun knows Akane is bi, Cologne knows Shampoo is bi, and they both 
go "Yay!  Since Ukyou and Kodachi are straight but my kid's bi and thus 
better for Ranma, that means it's down to two potential fiancees and my kid 
has a way better chance than before!"

And for all we know Cologne did the same stuff when she was Shampoo's age.  
It's just that having the parents be really homophobic about the kids was 
done before.  Whatever.  Good luck with the sequel if there is one!

p.s. Actually, since Shampoo gave Akane the Kiss of Death, if Akane agrees 
     to marry her (I heard it's legal somewhere in Europe and in Israel 
     since 1994) instead does that solve anything, or not?
