Ranma 1/2: Voices


(We are inside of a recording studio. We see Kasumi standing in front of a
microphone, a script in her hands. No one else is in the room. There is an
adjacent room to that one, seperated by a wall with a large glass window.
In that room, there are some people we don't recognize. They are in charge
of the recording. One of the people speaks into the microphone sitting
ontop of a desk.)

Voice:Okay, Ms. Tendo, we're ready when you are.

Kasumi:Okay.

(Kasumi holds the script in front of her. She begins to read from it)

Kasumi:(Reading script)Hello. This is the Goddess Helpline. I will visit
you for a consultation.....Moshi moshi?....Konnichiwa. Don't be startled...
Morisato Keiichi

(A brief moment pass)

Kasumi:Excuse me for not introducing myself sooner. I am Belldandy, a
goddess......Hai......our job is to rescue people in distress, such as
yourself.

(Another brief moment)

Kasumi:Order take out? Is that what you disire. Not only that, but anything
you wish for, I can grant you. But you get only one wish.

(A voice echoed into the room)

Voice:Stop...You read the script wrong. It's supposed to be "But you only
get one wish", not "But you get only one wish".

Kasumi:Gomenasai. Okay. I'm ready to try that again.

Voice:Okay.

Kasumi:(Speaking into the microphone)Order take out? Is that what you
desire. Not only that, but anything you wish for, I can grant you. But you
only get one wish.

Voice:That's perfect.

(Kasumi coninues to read from the script in her hands while simultaneously
speaking into the microphone in front of her. Several hours pass as she
continues to do so. She stops)

Kasumi:Ano...gomenasai, but my throat's really parched now. I don't think I
can go on anymore.

Voice:Please. Jus' a little bit longer. You only have a few more lines, and
that's it.

Kasumi:Fine.

Voice:Ready?

Kasumi:Hai(Continues to read from script)It's okay. You kept your promise.
Arigato. Merry Christmas.

Voice:That's a wrap.

(Kasumi picks her wool sweater and puts it on. She takes a drink from a
nearby water fountain.)

Kasumi:Well, it's best that I get going now. It's getting pretty late.

(Kasumi opens the door to leave the recording room, just as someone else
was entering. It was Ranma, in his female form. He's holding a script in his
hands.)

Ranma-chan:You did great. 

Kasumi:Arigato.

Ranma-chan:You better not wait up for me. I'm gonna be here for a while.

Kasumi:Okay. I'll see you back at home. Sayonora.

(Ranma-chan watches as Kasumi hands the script to the men behind the glass
window, bowing them once before leaving. He takes a drink from the water
fountain before stepping up to the microphone in the center of the room. He
causually throws his jacket on a nearby stool.)

Voice:Are you ready?

Ranma-chan:(Thinking to himself)I can't believe I'm doin' this. I wish I
could do this in my male form. Oh well. It's still good money.(Begins to
speak)Okay, I'm ready.

Voice:Okay, Ms. Saotome, we're ready when you're ready.

Ranma-chan:Okay.

(Ranma picks up his script and begins reading from it. In the background,
children's voices could be heard filtering into the room. It was being
admited from a sepaker in the corner of the room.)


Ranma-chan:(Reading scrpite)Where monsters rampage, I'm there to take them 
down! Where treasure glitters, I'm there to claim it! Where an enemy rises 
to face me, vitory will be mine!(Starts to sing)Tachmuikau Saki ni Kawaita
Kaze Hageshiku Fukiaretemo....

(The voice echos into the room)

Voice:Hold it! Hold it! That's the wrong script, Ms. Saotome. You're 
reading the wrong script. We're not doing Slayers today.

Ranma-chan:We're not?

Voice:No.

Ranma-chan:Oops. I must have brought the wrong script.

Voice:Yes, you did.

Ranma-chan:Do you have any extra ones lying around?

Voice:Yeah, luckily, we do.

(Ranma walks over to the door and opens it. He enters the control room as
one of the attendants hands him the right script. He then walks back into
the recording room.)

Ranma-chan:Sorry 'bout that.

Voice:Don't worry about. Are you ready to begin again?

(Ranma nods)

Voice:Okay, you can begin anytime you're ready.

Ranma-chan:(Reading script)It's morning, wake up, wake up, wake up.

(The sound of clanking could be heard now. It sounded like a pot was being
hit with a spoon.)

Ranma-chan:Morning, morning. It's morning, Ryunosuke.....Wake up, Ryunosuke.

(Slight pause)

Ranma-chan:Ohiyo....Breakfast is ready, here you go.....Papa-san, it's
morning...You'll be late...Papa-san, hey, Papa-san....You'll be late,
Papa-san....hai.

(There's another brief pause)

Ranma-chan:(Continuing reading the script)Oh! IT'S HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(The glass on the window seperating the rooms breaks from the intensity of
Ranma's high-pitched scream.)

Man:(No longer needing to speak into microphone)Stop! That's enough! Stop!

Ranma-chan:(Angry)What did I do wrong? The script tells me to scream as
loud as I could, and I did.

Man:I wasn't expecting for THIS to happen. Man, we're gonna hafta cancel
today's session until tomorrow.

Ranma-chan:So what if the glass is broken....Why not jus' continue on? All
you're doin' is recording my voice.

Man:We hafta get this glass fixed. If we don't, the sounds from this room
would filter into your recording room, and it'll be recorded into the show
we're dubbing.

Ranma-chan:Oh. Okay, fine, I'll come back tomorrow.

(Ranma causually walks up to the stool and picks up his jacket. He give the
crew a weird look before shrugging his shoulders. He causually leaves the
room and exits the building)

Ranma-chan:Oh well, I guess these are some of the things voice-actors hafta
deal with.

  There you go, another fanfic. First off, the characters from this story
was created by the Rumiko Takahashi. I would never take credit for any of
her works. I'm sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors. Please send

Note: The voice-actress that does Kasumi's voice is Kikuko Inoue. She is also
the voice-actress that did Belldandy from Ah! Megami-sama. The voice-actress
that does Ranma-chan's voice is Megumi Hayashibara. Megumi also does the
voice of Lina Inverse from Slayers and Nuku Nuku from All-Purpose Cat-Girl 
Nuku Nuku. This is kind of like a parallel universe where the Ranma cast are 
the voice actors. I hope it was original enough to merit a response. Hope 
you enjoyed it ^_^
