 Let's try casting some cliches:

Slayers is pretty easy to transform - Linna and her gang clean up the
small town and ride off into the sunset. Instead of spells, Linna uses
dynamite a la Clint Eastwood, Gourry is the brawler, Zelgadis is the
sharpshooter.

Ranma - Ranma is a gunfighter who has to deal with challenges from others
seeking to make their reputation or bad guys trying to take over in the
town. Kasumi is the schoolmarm, Nabiki is the town gambler (I leave it to

just because its supposed to be a western doesn't mean you have to turn
all the characters into gunslingers and brawlers. thats certainly one way
of doing it, but you can also derive alot of humor from the characters
acting exactly like they're in a western world, but throwing chi blasts or
spells when they get in a duel.

you coudl even do the same thing in an unhumorous way if you were willing
to put the effort into it.
