A Ranma and Ah! My Goddess
crossover.
A Goddess's Kiss
by
Donny Cheng
Ranma
sighed to himself as he struggled to get to his room. His back ached with
the effort. Today had been a particularly grueling day. Akane had
malleted him a few times for being glomped by Shampoo. Shampoo had
retaliated forgetting that Ranma was in the way. Ukyo had then come by to
'save' him from Shampoo. Kodatchi, of course, just happened to be in the
neighborhood. The fun really started when Kuno, Mousse, and Ryoga caught
him 'flirting' with the four girls. Ranma groaned again as he recalled the
beating he subsequently received. Yes, today had definitely not been a
good day. Was it really too much to ask for a quiet day with the people
around him? The day's strain caught up to him the moment he reached his
bedroll. Ranma fell fast asleep.

Fade
in...
Ranma, about the age of eight, is standing alone in the street
crying. He felt so alone. Where was his father? Never in his
entire life had he been alone. He was scared. Everybody around him
seemed so frightening. He could feel tears starting to form in his
eyes.
"Don't cry!"
A voice came to him. It was
soft, almost angelic to his young ears. He looked up to see who it
was. It was an older girl with shiny long hair. Her face was not
quite clear to him. A hand reached out to him. It was dark in
color. The boy tensed up ready to strike out. The hand that touched
his was soft.
"I'll stay with you until someone comes to pick you
up."
Ranma let himself to be led a park nearby. The next few
moments were one of the happiest of his young life. The girl stayed with
him and kept him company as the day wore on. The day came to a close as
his father finally showed up. The girl yelled at his father using words
that he didn't understand. Genma was shamefaced as he apologized for
accidentally leaving him behind. The girl had then turned to leave.
Ranma cried for her to stay. He feared being alone once again.
"Don't worry. I will always be with you in your heart. You will
never really be alone."
"Promise?"
Ranma stopped
crying as he felt the girl kneel to kiss him on the forehead. His heart
soared as he heard her whisper, "I promise." He again tries to
look at the girl's face. The haze that seemed to surround her face slowly
lifted...
Fade out...

"Ranma! Wake up! We're going to be late for school."
Akane quickly leaves his room to get ready for school.
Damn it, Ranma
thought to himself as he got up from bed. It was that same dream.
Every time he had a very bad day, that dream would come to him. He had
been so close to seeing the face of the girl this time. Despite the fact
that Ranma missed the girl's face again, he couldn't help but feel happy.
That dream always did that to him. He could still hear the softness of the
girl's voice ringing in his ear.

"Belldandddyyy!" Urd whined to her sister as she tried to think
up of excuses.
Belldandy quickly cut Urd off. "Urd, you must
help us find Skuld. She forgot to bring her moon bracelets when she left
the house this morning. She could be in serious trouble right
now."
"Oh, alright." Urd reluctantly agreed.
She never could disagree with her younger sister very well.
Belldandy
smiled winningly at Urd's acceptance. "The first place she'll go when
she notices her bracelets aren't with her is an ice cream parlor. Let's
split up and search all of them."
* * * * *
Ranma smiled to himself as he thought of the ice cream that waited for him at
the ice cream parlor. Ice cream was one of the few pleasures Ranma could
now enjoy with a second body at his disposal. He would change into his
girl form when he got to the shop, so that his male body would not be ruined
with sweets. Ranma gave out a startled cry as he felt a hand grab at his
leg. It was a young girl seemingly in pain lying on the ground.
"Hey! What's wrong with you? Are you sick? Are you in
pain?"
"Ice cream! Must have ice cream!" The
young girl cried out as her body fell limp.
Ranma rolled his eyes.
Some kids were just so melodramatic these days. He considered whether or
not to treat this weird kid to some ice cream. Well, why not? He was
in a good mood.
* * * * *
Ranma could only stare, as
the girl came to life and started to shovel bowl after bowl of ice cream into
her mouth. He quickly came out it as he noticed the girl was going for the
last bowl. "Leave some for me!"
The girl, who called
herself Skuld, looked shamefaced as she stopped her hand in mid reach. Her
stomach grumbled.
Ranma sighed he pushed the last bowl towards
Skuld. "Here have it. You sound like you need it more than I
do. Besides, who could refuse a cute girl like you? Look, I've got
to leave right now. I've already paid, so you can just leave when you
want." With that said, Ranma quickly left for home. Kasumi and
mother should be starting dinner soon. Also, he knew it wasn't good for
him to eat ice cream in his male body.
Skuld looked adoringly at the
retreating back of the boy, name Ranma. What a nice guy! He said I
was cute. Wait till I tell Belldandy about him. Her trained senses
screamed at her as she continued to watch Ranma leave. There was a haze
surrounding him. Skuld quickly pulled out her specialized glasses to look
at him from a different angle. Skuld gasped in shock. Bugs.
Dozens of them. All of them were surrounding Ranma.
*
* * * *
Urd grumbled as she followed Belldandy and Skuld around
Nerima. "Skuld, are you sure you saw bugs around here?"
"I think I know what a bug is. I have been system debugger of the
most powerful computer in the universe." Skuld was worried. The
bugs she had seen seemed to be abnormally attracted to Ranma.
Urd's eyes
twinkled as she looked at Skuld's worried expression. "You're still
worried about that boy you met aren't you. Young love what a beautiful
thing. I, the goddess of love, will help you win the heart of your
man." Urd stopped in her tracks and raised her arms in the sky.
All the while, laughing hysterically.
Skuld bigsweated as she continued
walking with Belldandy. Maybe if she ignored Urd, nobody would think they
were related.
Belldandy was oblivious to what was happening between
Skuld and Urd. She concentrated on the area around her, trying to find any
trace of bugs in the area. Within a few moments of concentrating, she felt
the trail of mayhem left by a bug. Opening her eyes, she saw the sign of
an okonomiyaki restaurant in front of her. "Uuchan's".
"Urd, Skuld, this is a place where there was a high concentration of bug
activity recently."
Going inside the restaurant, the goddesses are
startled to see mass destruction all around them. Skuld whispered to
Belldandy as she looked towards the owner, a sixteen-year-old girl.
"There's a bug around that girl. I'll bop it, while you find out what
happened." Skuld immediately pulled out a huge mallet at tried to
sneak towards the creature.
Urd and Belldandy slowly walk to the girl,
who was busily cleaning up the place. Urd was the first to speak.
"Wow! What happened to this place?"
The young
okonomiyaki cook, who appeared to have a giant spatula strapped to her back,
grumbled as she recounted to them what had happened. It seemed her
fiancé had come to visit her when his other fiancé came and a
catfight started.
Belldandy did a double take as she heard this.
"Your fiancé has another fiancé!?"
The girl,
Ukyo, grimaced as she corrected them. "Actually, he has another two
girls after him. Also, he may have a ton of other girls after him that I
don't know about. His father had been known to have given him off for food
at times."
Belldandy looked sympathetically towards the girl.
She has had a rough life in trying to be with the one that she loved.
Urd in the meantime was off in her own little world. A guy with four girls
after him!? If all of the girls looked as good as this one, that meant he
probably had a lot of rivals. This was the most tangled up web of love
that she had ever heard of. Thank you, Almighty! As the goddess of
love, it was her duty to see that this mess was fixed up. "By the
way, what is your boyfriend's name?"
"Oh, it's Ranma.
Saotome Ranma."
A hammer hitting the ground very hard could be
heard.
* * * * *
Inwardly Urd was fuming. Contrary to
popular belief, she did care for Skuld a lot. After going around Nerima
and talking to various people, the goddesses had a vivid impression of what this
Ranma was like. Two kids, Hiroshi and Daisuke, had been particularly
informative. Who did this Ranma think he was? Flirting with every
girl that he met. Building a harem for himself. He was probably
playing around with her kid sister. Looking a Skuld, Urd could tell that
she was still secretly harboring a crush on Ranma.
Skuld tried to look
optimistic as she looked towards Belldandy for support. "He can't be
all bad. I'm sure those to classmates of his are just
exaggerating."
Belldandy, of course, answered back as helpfully as
she could. "Well, if he does have four girls after him and all the
girls know about this, it shows that he must really be a great guy. Why
else would they stay with him?"
Urd gave Belldandy with exasperated
look. "Oh, please. There are lots of girls out there that fall
for the wrong guy. This guy is probably leading each of them on.
Anyway, it doesn't matter what this guy is like. We came here to take care
of the bugs. When we're done, we'll just leave."
Skuld does
not say anything as they continue on their way to the Tendo Dojo, Ranma's
home. He did seem like a nice person to her.
* * * *
*
The three goddesses stood nervously before the door to the dojo.
With their glasses they could see hordes of the normally invisible bugs
converging to this one dojo. Skuld swallowed hard. Just what was so
special about Ranma? Mustering up her courage, she cautiously walks up to
the door and knocks. However, before she even moved, the door is smashed
as a body flew right through and crashed into her.
"Boy, you're
getting sloppy. You should have been able to easily dodge that
kick." A gruff voice could be heard coming from inside.
Said
boy could not answer back as he was now tangled up with Skuld. The boy's
head somehow managed to get caught underneath Skuld's skirt.
Coincidentally, a girl with short hair steps through the doors at that
moment. What happened next was one that truly astonished the
goddesses. The girl called out "Ranma, you pervert!" and then
pulled the boy up to her and punted him high into the sky.
"Uh,
what just happened here?" Skuld was in a daze as she got up.
"You seem to have been hit by a boy. Then this girl here kicked him
away." Belldandy could not quite believe those words were coming out
of her mouth. "Excuse me miss. Was the name of the boy you had
hit named Ranma?"
"Yes. Why do you want to
know?" The girl looked at them suspiciously. "You wouldn't
happen to be more fiancés of his?"
"No, we are
not. However, we do have a matter of importance that is directly related
to him."
The girl breathed a sigh of relief. "Come
inside then. He'll be back in a short while. My name is
Akane."
Belldandy followed Akane into the house. Urd stayed
outside to look at still visible boy's body that was flying away from her.
She didn't get a good look at his face. Looking around with Skuld's
glasses she could see that most of the bugs had left, though some stayed at the
house. Whatever it was that the boy had, it seemed to rub off on things
and people that he was around. What an interesting person this
was.
* * * * *
Akane could not believe her ears as
she heard these three girls tell them about a problem that Ranma might
have. "Wait a minute! You're telling me that the reason so much
destruction happens around Ranma is because of invisible bugs?"
Belldandy looked apologetically at her and rest of the family as she answered
with an affirmative. "You see the universe is like a giant
computer. When something is this big there are usually disruptions in the
programming. Bugs. Never before have we seen so many of them
concentrated around a single person for no particular reason."
Nabiki could not help but feel curious. "May I ask how you know all
this?
"You could say that we are maintainers of this big
computer."
"In other words, you're goddesses."
Urd choked on her tea. That girl was shrewd one. To her surprise,
they all seemed to be indifferent to the fact that they were among
goddesses. They must really have had interesting past adventures.
"I'm home." A somewhat soaked girl cried out as she entered the
room.
"Ranma, where have you been?" Akane asked with
concern as she took in Ranma's appearance.
"The old woman across
the street managed to splash me again with her ladle and Kuno happened to be
there. He chased me all over Nerima. Every time I found hot water,
cold water would come out of nowhere and hit me. Kuno finally got the
picture that I wanted to be alone after the twentieth hit to the head I gave
him." It was then that Ranma noticed there were three extra people in
the room. "Skuld? What are you doing here?"
Belldandy, Skuld, and Urd stared at the new comer for awhile before they asked
at the same time, "Ranma?"
* * * * *
The
Goddesses had listened with rapt attention to Akane as she told them of Ranma's
adventures the past year and of his curse. Their awe increased with each
successive story. They now sat in wait for Ranma to finish his bath so
that they could talk with him properly. When Ranma finally came out to
greet them he was in his boy form. Urd had to admit to herself that he did
not look bad at all. Those baby blue eyes alone could cause many a girl to
feel weak in the knees. In fact, she found herself staring at Ranma
whenever he wasn't looking. She had the oddest feeling of that she knew
him from somewhere.
Ranma felt conflicting emotions within himself after
listening to the goddesses. He was happy to know that there was a reason
for the many mishaps he had endured. He also felt angry and sad that there
was nothing that he could do about it. The goddesses had consulted with
the Almighty (over the phone) and discovered the reason for the bugs being
attracted to him. It seemed that everybody had a purpose in the natural
order of things, except for some people like him. People with no
destiny. They had the ability to change the fate of others, as there were
no controls placed on their behavior. These people were thus disruptive to
the universal program. Bugs were naturally attracted to faults in the
system. "So, in other words, you're saying that I'm damned if I do
and damned if I don't."
Belldandy winced at Ranma's choice of
words. "Actually, I think there may be some hope for you. Most
people without destiny die at a very young age simply because of all the
accidents that happen around them. However, you seem to be
different. From what I have heard from your history, you seem to always
manage to come through in life threatening situations. I think that you
should come back with us to our temple so that we may study you."
Ranma grimaced. "I don't feel up to being some sort of lab
experiment. I think I'll just stay and figure it out on my own. I
mean I got this far without any help."
Oh, for the love of
god. Urd had enough. Here they were going out of their way to help
him and he complains left and right. She was going to put an end to
this. Walking up to him, Urd poked him in the forehead. "Hey,
listen here. We came all this way to help you and this is how you
rep...!" Urd suddenly stopped talking as she felt a force of energy
emit from Ranma's body after she touched him. Ranma gave a startled gasp
and held his chest as if it hurt very badly.
A small poof could be heard
in air as a diminutive woman seem to pop right out of Ranma's chest.
"Finally, I'm out of there." The woman then proceeded the
stretch. Bones cracking were very audible. "That feels so much
better. You can't believe how cramped it could get in a person's
heart. It sure took you long enough to come pick me up Urd."
By now everyone can see that the ultra-small woman that sprung from Ranma's body
is Urd. Or rather, mini-Urd. Urd stared at the little version of
her. She couldn't believe it. After all those years of avoiding this
issue, it came back to haunt her. "You mean to tell me that this
womanizing jerk here is the same sweet little kid I met eight years ago and gave
a part of my soul to?!"
Mini-Urd cringed at the taller Urd's tone
of voice. "Hey! It's not my fault he turned out this way.
Blame his father. And he's not as bad as you make it him out to be.
Sure, he's rough around to edges, but I'm sure you'll still like him.
After all, I do."
"From what I've learned from the people
around here, he's a complete and total washout as a person."
"Hey!" Ranma tried to protest, but Urd ignored him like he
wasn't even there.
"Well, most of the people here are biased.
It doesn't matter since you will know all of what I know when we join back
up. Let's do this somewhere private." Urd and mini-Urd then
turned and left the house before anyone could follow.
The two remaining
goddesses were immediately bombarded with questions. Nodoka was worried
for Ranma. "What happened to my son? Why was there a woman that
looked like your sister inside of him?
Belldandy sighed. After
seeing mini-Urd, every thing had become clear to her. "I'll explain
what I can. Now, if you will all sit back down I will tell you what is
happening. It all started eight years ago." The Almighty had
told her of Urd's adventure on earth all those years ago.
Unknown to
everyone, Ranma slipped out of the house intent to find Urd. He didn't
know why, he just needed to see her.
* * * * *
Mini-Urd looked wearily at Urd. "Are you absolutely sure you want to
rejoin with me? Remember you will be getting eight years worth of
memories. And I meant it when I said that I like Ranma. I LIKE Ranma
a lot."
Urd looked incredulously at mini-Urd. "You don't
meant that you, I, we LOVE this guy do we?"
Mini-Urd does not
answer. She had a sad expression on her face. Slowly she phased out
into a ghostlike apparition and entered Urd's body.
* * * *
*
Belldandy sipped at her tea as she began her story. "Urd
had been given leave to visit earth about eight years ago. When she had
landed, she met a young lost boy. Ranma. She had stayed with him
until his father showed up to pick him up. This was the first time she had
stayed with a single human for such a long amount of time. Ranma had
apparently left a lasting impression on Urd. So much of an impression,
that Urd agreed to a promise with Ranma. Promises with goddesses are like
contracts. They are very binding. However, Urd did not yet have the
right to make a contract with a mortal yet. Urd promised that Ranma would
never be alone as long as she was in his heart. Amazingly enough, the
Almighty allowed this contract to be made. The Almighty had then proceeded
to merge a part of Urd's soul with Ranma's. It is this reason that Ranma
is able to survive the certain death bugs bring. He is blessed by a
goddess." Everyone in the room nodded to themselves. This was a
satisfactory answer to all of their questions.
* * * *
*
Urd cursed herself bitterly. She could feel him inside of
her. Everything around her reminded her of him. She already missed
seeing his face and hearing his voice. She tried to deny that these
feelings were hers. However, mini-Urd was as much a part of her as her
hand or her heart.
Mini-Urd was right about how her perception of Ranma
would change when they rejoined. Being in his heart, Mini-Urd experienced
every single emotion he ever felt. Now, Urd also felt the same
experiences. She could see how so many girls fell for Ranma. Despite
the many times Shampoo had tricked him, Ranma still helped her when she needed
it, whether it was against the dreaded ghost cat or against Pink and Link.
Outside of Cologne and Mousse, Ranma was the only who was nice to her in
Nerima. With Ukyo, Ranma tried to remain friends with her without having
this fiancé business getting mixed in. Ranma couldn't even stand
the thought of hurting Kodatchi when she cried. To Kodatchi, Ranma was
probably the only boy who ever gave a thought to about her feelings.
Though Ranma sometimes treated the girls poorly, Urd could tell from his
memories that the girls saw that deep down Ranma did care for each of
them. This was the reason all of them fought so hard for him.
Urd
could sense someone walking up to her from behind. She knew it was
Ranma. She waited for him to speak first.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"So, nice day isn't it?"
"Yes, it
is."
"I wanted to thank you."
"Why?"
"You know, for staying with me all those
years."
"It was nothing."
"..."
Urd tensed up. Ranma had stopped talking. Urd could not, for the
life of her, figure out what to say. What could she say to a person eight
years younger than she was? A mortal at that. A person she
loved. A person hadn't seen her for years. A person who didn't know
how much she had changed.
Ranma finally spoke up again.
"You're wrong. It was something. It was something to me.
Over the years I have been by myself a lot of times. Never, though, have I
felt alone. Every time I felt sat, I would dream of you. I would
dream of the way you never left my side even after everyone else had left that
park. I may not have seen you, but inside I think I knew you were
there." Seeing that Urd is not responding Ranma turns to
leave.
"Wait! You don't have to leave yet. I wouldn't
mind the company."
Ranma nodded and sat beside Urd. Both do
not say anything for awhile. They are content to just be with each
other.
"How did you know where to find me?"
"I
didn't. This bridge is the place where I come when things become to
hectic."
* * * * *
Way into the
future...
"1, 2, 3! Rock beats scissors. I
win!" Urd looked evenly at Skuld.
"Arrgh! That
makes it three times in a row that I've lost. Fine then, have it your
way. Have him for another year."
"What are you
complaining about? You've got the lifetime record of six hundred and fifty
two wins to my four hundred and forty eight wins." Urd looked
triumphant as she watched Skuld storm off. She had another year of being
with Ranma without her sister interfering. She couldn't wait to be in his
youthful strong arms. His martial arts conditioning and cursed form had
allowed him to live a millenium. A little help from Urd's magic stopped
him from aging in body so that he was technically an immortal. Urd loved
him and everything, but she didn't think she could take the thought of him
looking like Happosai. She laughed at the thought of a shrunken old
Ranma. Now that she had won, all she had to do was find where he was on
earth. If only those sailor-suited brats would leave her Ranma alone, life
would be perfect.
The End. (maybe)
