Personally, were I to make a choice, it would be Benares' "Stepping
Stones". "Putting Your Heart in the Right Place" is close, and
perhaps more influential to fanficdom overall, but I've never seen
nearly as many people talk about it, ask questions about it, and want
to know about it as "Stepping Stones". Also, it's always been
regarded as well-written, and it's just damn hard to find someone who
doesn't like it! ^_^
This is all fascinating. I've never even *heard* of "Stepping Stones".
What is this super-popular well-written universally-liked fanfic
supposed to be about?
Its some horribly depressing story about Ukyou and how she came to get
away from nerima and all that. Its kinda intereting except it was never
finished. It may have set a precedent by portraying Ukyou as so
depressed.
Anyways I have a few favorites that I really liked:
For Want of a Nail - an alternate universe where Ranma chooses Ukyou
over Okonomiyaki. Really good and fun to read.
Life's Dulse Moments - One of the funniest ones i ever read where Ranma
is cursed to speak in puns the whole time.
Finally one of the ones that defined Kasumi as one of the most
interesting characters was yours. Thy Inward Love. Which gets my vote
as one of the more defining ones. Of course you later wrote Thy Outward
Part which really disturbed me and I like to mention this every so often
cuz it disturbed me so much. ^_^
Oh and finally there are two of Zen's fics which i found enthralling
which were The Bitter End and The Long and Winding Road.
Anyways i suppose those are the ones that stick out most in my mind as
the better fanfics ever written.
