"Brendan O'Donnell" <brenda02@sprynet.com> enlightened us in the following
manner:
It would depend on the shape of the projectile, but you should keep in
mind that the whole purpose of Railguns and other such is to punch through
heavy armor. You try that on something much softer, like a person and you'll
just make a real small neat hole. The weapons that make the big holes are
slower moving projectiles that deform when they hit their target.
An excellent example of this being in Gunnm when one of Alita's "clones" shoots
the photographer with an armor piercing round. Can't remember what volume, but
if you saw it you remember what I am talking about.
Ninja scroll is a neat anime. Unfortunately for Gemma, he can be taken down (or
at least off balance) by a pissed off guy with a nasty headbutt. I don't see
him standing up to much modern weaponry.
And even if the railgun made a "small" hole, having chunks of his nervous system
evenly distributed along a several mile long path might make it a little harder
for him to stick everything back together.
Not to kill your idea though, I think it is neat bringing Gemma to modern times.
Of course you realize that I am going to beg for Jubei's
great-great-whatever-grandkid to be in the fic too =).
Anyone read my grappler baki fic? I only got one comment. =(.
Ben.
