                     Adrian Wong presents:

Not Quite Star-Crossed : The Tale of Ukyou and Ranma
A Ranma 1 / 2 and Romeo and Juliet Crossover

All characters belong to Rumiko Takahashi and some others that I don't know of.
This story copyright by Adrian Wong, 1997.

All C&C (not flames) will be DESPERATELY NEEDED :)

C A S T:

Clan Saotome includes:

Nodoka and Genma - Nodoka is a little bit harsher yet more modern at the same time, and
Genma is a lecher as well as the scum that he is in the manga. They live in a much bigger house
with a luxurious dojo since they are rich.

Ranma - Have never been away from home since Genma couldn't con him (and the family
fortune) away from Nodoka. A lot more sensitive and less bullish than the original Ranma. A
student at some all-boys school in Nerima.

Kodachi - Ranma's cousin. A vicious girl who hates the Kuonjis with a passion. A student at
Furinkan High.

Tofu - A servant of the family who has practically watched Ranma grew up.

Clan Kuonji includes:

Mr. and Mrs. Kuonji - Concerned parents. Loves Ukyou very much. Indicated to be rich as
well.

Ukyou - Still quite boyish, but doesn't cross-dress since she hadn't been through what the
manga Ukyou had been through. Had recently been dumped by a handsome boy called Konatsu
and was feeling moody and depressed. A student at Furinkan High.

Kurumi - Ukyou's cousin, very much like the OVA Kurumi but not quite as strong. Also, she is
more interested in boys than food. A student at Furinkan High.

Others:

Shampoo - Ukyou's best friend, a flirtatious Amazon fighter as in the manga.

Sister Hinako - The one who Ukyou always turns to for advice.

Akane Tendo - Engaged to Ranma by their clans. Very much like the manga Akane. A student
at Furinkan High.

Soun Tendo - Akane's father who pushed her to marry Ranma.

Tatewaki - Narrator at the beginning and the end. A student at Furinkan High.

Principal - The principal of Furinkan High.

P A R T 5

[Scene opens to a beautiful morning over Nerima, where a grand looking cathedral towers over
ALL the houses around it. A chorus of music could be heard coming from within the chapel. In
the convent behind the chapel, Hinako (looking elegant in the white gowns that nuns wear) is
pointing to a human body diagram with all the major chi points being highlighted as she speaks
to a group of bored looking choir girls.]

Sister Hinako [in a voice of awe and admiration]: How mighty is the Lord who creates our
bodies. From the mysterious, God given flow of chi, a body that is but an object is given life and
mobility. [She flips out a coin] By controlling one's own chi (such as I have been able to master
for some time now), one can actually give her chi to another's body, or take chi away from it.
This way, those who are suffering from chi disorder can actually be cured-

[Sister Hinako stops as she realizes that she herself is the only one still awake in the room. She
sighs in disappointment.]

Sister Hinako: Such lack of spirits.

[Just then, another girl comes into the room.]

Girl [speaking aloud]: C'mon, everyone! The instrumental group has got the hang of the song
already: it's now practice time for the choir!

[With that, the sleeping girls immediate wakes up and hurry out the room.]

Choir Girl 1 [gushing excitedly as she exits]: Oh, man! We've GOT to see how this works out!

[Sister Hinako is just about to follow when she hears a knocking sound by the window and sees
Ukyou knocking on it with a smile on her face. Smiling fondly, she gets over to the window and
opens it.]

Ukyou [giving her a hug ]: Long time no see, Sister!

Sister Hinako [as she roughs up Ukyou's bangs a bit]: It shouldn't have been THIS long if it
hadn't been for you skipping mass lately.

Ukyou [standing back and said]: I'm sorry, Sister. It's just that I had been so depressed for the
last few weeks that I was barely in the mood to go anywhere else but to School.

Sister Hinako [chiding with a smile]: And it were times like those when you truly needed God's
guidance the most.

Ukyou [rubbing the back of her head]: I know, I know . . .

Sister Hinako [studying Ukyou]: Where have you been, my girl? Your hair is in a mess, you are
dressed in costume, and somehow you smell like . . . koi, if that makes sense.

Ukyou [blushing a bit]: Oh, I was at the Spring Masquerade at the Saotome Dojo for last night,
that's all.

Sister Hinako [frowning]: You were not there to see Konatsu, were you?

Ukyou: Konatsu? God no, good Sister. I am now TOTALLY over my past cravings for him. In
fact, I think I can even walk up to him and congratulate his decision right now.

Sister Hinako [sighing with relief]: That's good. It won't be proper for you to continually
distract him from his 'call'. Besides, this open-minded attitude of your can certainly make you
a lot more happier in life.

Ukyou: Actually, good Sister, my 'happiness' now relies on this ONE favour that I have yet to
ask of you.

Sister Hinako: What is it?

Ukyou [slightly nervous]: Well, as you know, the Saotomes and the Kuonjis are both part of this
church's community, even though we don't attend the same masses, and that both clan masters
are really Christians despite evidences to the contrary and this means that . . .

Sister Hinako [looking impatient]: Be plain, girl. You're talking in circles.

Ukyou: Okay . . . okay. I've fallen in love, Sister.

Sister Hinako: What?!

Ukyou: With the handsome son of the powerful Saotomes.

[Sister Hinako is immediately fossilized.]

Ukyou: We met, we wooed [she raises her right hand for the stunned sister to see], we've made
exchange of vows . . .

[Sister Hinako gradually regains consciousness as Ukyou continues.]

Ukyou [anxiously]: Please, Sister! Help me get the Father here to perform the wedding
ceremony for us right this afternoon!

Sister Hinako [incredulously]: Right this afternoon?!

[Ukyou nodded with anticipation.]

Sister Hinako: Holy mother of God . . . what a change is here. So THIS is why Konatsu, of
whom you have claimed to have loved all this time, be so soon forgotten. [She looks
disapprovingly at Ukyou] Your new love lies then not truly in your heart, but in your . . . eyes.

[With that, Sister Hinako strides out of the room and down a hall leading to the chapel. Ukyou
quickly follows her. Faint music can be heard coming from the chapel.]

Ukyou: Oh, Sister, that's not true! Ranchan reciprocals the love that I give him with love, the
other does so with mere friendship!

Sister Hinako [as she pushes open the gate to the chapel]: Mere attraction is not equivalent to
love, my girl.

[In the chapel, the choir are now singing on the second floor in their traditional choir singing
voices, accompanies by the traditional use of musical instruments.]

Choir: I will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever he may go.

Sister Hinako [thinking]: <But then again . . .>

Choir: For need Him I always will be,
And nothing can keep me away
     He is my destiny.

[Shows joyous scenes of the neighbourhood as the property value rises up after the Saotomes
and the Kuonjis stop terrorizing it with their clan fights.]

Hinako: <This may be a good thing after all.>

Choir: I will follow Him,
Ever since he touched my heart, I knew.

Ukyou [pleading]: Sister, please.

Choir: There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high that can keep,
     Keep me away~

Sister Hinako: Alright, my girl. On one condition that I'll your assistant be.

[Ukyou's lips parts with anxiety.]

Choir: Away from His love~

Sister Hinako [smiling]: That this union between the two of you can shatter this horrid grudge
between your clans once and for all.

Ukyou [shouts with excitement]: YES!!

[Abruptly, the traditional choir music switches into the flamboyant 60's beats.]

Choir: I LOVE HIM! I LOVE HIM!
     I LOVE HIM!
AND WHERE HE GOES I FOLLOW!
     I FOLLOW! I FOLLOW!

Ukyou: Good Sister, I'll tell him AT ONCE!!

[With that, she bolts for the exit of the chapel.]

Choir: I will follow Him, <follow him>
Follow Him wherever he may go. <Ou~ou~ou~ou>
There isn't an ocean too deep, <too deep>
A mountain so high that can keep, <keep>

Sister Hinako [calling after her]: Wisely and slowly, girl: the floor at the front gate is still wet
from the mopping this morning.

Choir: Keep me away~, <keep me away~>
Away from His love~! <away from His love~>

[Ukyou's yelp, follows by the sound of someone tripping onto stone hard floor could be heard as
the Sister sighed in resignation.]

Choir: And need Him I always will be, <ou yeah~>
For nothing can keep me away, <nothing can>
KEEP ME AWAY, <keep us away~>
AWAY FROM HIS LO~VE~~! <away from His lo~ve~>

[Cuts to the Furinkan High schoolyard, where Shampoo and Kurumi are sitting on a tree branch
eating through their spare. Shampoo's rich flow of long-hair is back to its purple-coloured,
whirling mode. Somehow, she is wearing a one-piece Chinese mini-skirt despite the fact that
Furinkan requires uniform.]

Shampoo: Where is stupid Ukyou?! She even skip class today!

Kurumi: I called the Kuonji mansion this morning, and apparently she didn't go home last night.

Shampoo [looking worried]: Shampoo hate think so, but maybe . . . maybe Ukyou didn't make it
out of Saotome mansion last night . . .

Kurumi: No way, if that's the case, then the Saotomes would have probably call the police on
her and made a BIG fuss out of this just to embarrass the Kuonji Clan.

Shampoo: Shampoo heard Japanese clan ruthless: maybe they got rid of Ukyou in secret!

Kurumi [sweats]: I don't think they are quite that ruthless . . .

Ukyou's voice: And even if they are, I can more than hold my own.

[The girls turns around on their branch, and sees Ukyou leaning leisurely against the tree-trunk.]

Kurumi [beaming]: Cousin! I KNEW that you would be okay!

Shampoo [with watery eyes]: Ukyou . . . [abruptly flings a bonbori that Ukyou barely dodges as
it pushes off the top half of the tree-trunk] WHAT HELL NOT-NICE SPATULA GIRL STAY
AT DANGEROUS PLACE FOR?! SHAMPOO WORRY DEAD!

[Ukyou darts close to Shampoo and hugs hers as she smiles.]

Ukyou [soothing her]: Oh, I'm sorry . . . but my reason was important.

Shampoo [pouting]: What reason so important that Ukyou took off without telling Shampoo?

Ukyou [blushing]: Well . . .

[Shampoo turns to study Ukyou's face for a while, then a playful smile creeps onto her face.]:

Shampoo: Aiya . . . I see Ukyou . . . lucky last night.

Ukyou: What?!

Kurumi: Wow, cousin, I didn't know you had it in you . . .

Shampoo: Ukyou stay back for boy, is Shampoo right?

Ukyou [taken back]: How . . . how do you know?

Shampoo [smirking]: Shampoo observant. So how it feels?

Ukyou: How WHAT feels?

Kurumi [gushing]: You know, IT!

Ukyou [blushing]: Guys, we DIDN'T actually . . . you know . . .

Shampoo: Then why Ukyou still in yesterday's costume?

Kurumi: And why is your hair all messed up?

Ukyou: It is not what you think! We fell into the koi-pound-

Shampoo [cutting her of]: Aiya! Ukyou did it in Koi pond?!

Kurumi [excitedly]: That's SO wild! Wish I can somehow corner Ryuu-chan to do that with me
next time . . . he is so shy around me that we never gets to do anything fun.

Shampoo [looking smug]: Basically, Shampoo think he no want do fun' things with Kurumi
cause Kurumi kiss him like eating ice-cream.

Kurumi [hotly]: Hey! Take that back!

Shampoo [sticking ou her tongue]: Nyah!

[The two started hitting each other half-heartedly with their fists, with Ukyou somehow getting
caught in the playful fight. Naturally, this cause the three girls to fall off the tree onto the glass
below them in a heap. Just then, Ukyou looks up, and saw a handsome, bespectacled man
looking down at her. Shampoo and Kurumi are apparently taken back by his presence, and have
stopped their fight.]

Tofu [to Ukyou]: Can we talk?

[Ukyou immediately follows him to some distance away, as Shampoo and Kurumi stared after
her in awe.]

Shampoo: THAT was who Ukyou with last night?

Kurumi: He's SO handsome . . . if a bit too old for her.

Shampoo [smiling a conspiratory smile] : We no waste such good opportunity, no?

Kurumi [smirking mischievously]: That's right. Let's follow them and see HOW FAR exactly
have they gone last night!

[Meanwhile, Ukyou and Tofu are talking under a tree.]

Tofu: Ranma told me last night about the two of you. Are you sure about what you're doing,
young lady? You two are still very much a pair of children . . .

Ukyou: So are Ranchan and Akane, but the Saotomes are still intending to have Ranma marry
that girl in the near future, aren't they?

Tofu [looking exasperated]: That's different: the two of them are ALLOWED to get married.

Ukyou: Well, the two of us ARE going to be married right this afternoon at the cathedral
whether our parents like it or not. I've got it all arranged this morning.

Tofu: How will the two of you support yourselves on your own? All that Ranma ever knows
how to do is his school work and his Art, and I don't think that he can very well be anything
more than a waiter until after high school . . .

Ukyou [replying with much confidence]: That's all that I need him to be through high school.
With my okonomiyaki skills, I can make money anywhere I like. Together with Ranchan's
income, we can even afford to open up a shop somewhere within half a year. The shop will be
making money all through this summer and our senior year of high school. We can then use that
money for College, during which I could probably keep on selling Okonomiyaki around the
campus area during lunch hours as Ranchan find some other kind of job.

[Tofu stares at her in awe.]

Ukyou: So you see, good servant, we CAN make it through. Trust us.

Tofu: But isn't this just a bit too hastily done?

Ukyou: If we wait any longer, Ranchan would have been forced to marry Akane and all will be
too late!

Tofu [sighing]: You're right about that, Ukyou-san. [He smiles.] I would never have believed in
the past that I would say this today, but really, you ARE the best choice that Ranma-kun can
ever hope for in this life. I am happy that naive, cheeky boy could have found someone as clever
and clear-headed as yourself. Your husband shall arrive at the chapel by one in the afternoon.

[With that, he walks away. Just as Ukyou is beaming with pride and happiness, two figures drop
down from the tree by her side, startling her.]

Kurumi: You're marrying the HEIR to the Saotome clan?!

Shampoo: Aiya! Ukyou's parents will have heart attacks.

Ukyou: I'm sure that they'll understand . . . in time . . .

Kurumi: I hardly think they will. Is it really worth it for you to give up all that you have just for
that one boy?

Ukyou: Kurumi-chan, he IS everything that I have. Besides, even though we might become less
rich for a while, it's not like we're going to starve.

Kurumi: My cousin is so totally bewitched by cupid's arrow. [She smiles.] But, I guess I am
happy for you.

Shampoo : Shampoo happy for Ukyou too. [She beams.] Now we go fix Ukyou up for wedding
at Shampoo's place, on condition that Shampoo be bridesmaid!

Kurumi: Well, I won't do too badly as the flower girl . . .

Ukyou [smiling gratefully as she gathers them into a three-way hug]: Thank you, . . . both of you.
You've no idea how much this means to me.

[Scene changes to the music room of an all boy's school. Sitting on the edge of a table, a
slightly spaced out Ranma is thinking up a song while playing a guitar as two other boys in the
room are looking at him curiously.]

Ranma: Only you, you're the only thing I see,
     Forever~
[Thinks for while . . . then continues as he plays the guitar.]
In my eyes, in my words,
     And in everything I do,
     Nothing else but you,
     Ever~

Hiroshi: Ranma, no offense, but you've been acting kinda . . .

Daisuke: Like a love-sick little puppy from some corny girl's manga. What happened, got laid at
the party last night?

Ranma [absently as he plays the guitar]: Don't even dare imply that: my love is virtuous.

Hiroshi: So it IS about a girl after all . . .

[Ranma nods absently as he continues playing the guitar.]

Daisuke [to Hiroshi]: You HAVE to ask that?

Hiroshi [turning excitedly to Ranma]: C'mon, buddy, tell us about her! Is she good-looking?

Daisuke: Has she got a good body?

Hiroshi: Is she still a virgin?

Ranma [looking up at them with a smile]: And what if she IS all these things combined?

Daisuke: Well, then, lucky dude, can we see her for ourselves?

[Ranma almost agrees . . . and remembers that this wedding HAS to remain a secret till the
ceremony has been completed to prevent any unwanted interruptions from his parents.]

Ranma [playing the guitar again]: Nah. Only a fool will let two sex-crazed lechers such as
yourselves be even remotely near to his girlfriend.

Daisuke [to Hiroshi]: Damn! He knows us well .

Ranma [smirking]: Don't feel sore, I can always show her to you two . . . after our wedding.

Hiroshi: Holy, you ARE serious over this chick . . .

[Just then, Tofu mysteriously appears at the window of the room, startling the boys. Ranma
smiles with anxiousness as he sees him.]

Ranma: Tofu!

Tofu [smiling]: Ranma-kun, I . . . [he sees the two other boys and decides to be vague,] I went.

[Ranma's smile widens as he quickly gathers his stuff and ran up to Tofu.]

Ranma [calling over his shoulder]: Later, guys!

[With that, he and Tofu leaps out the three-story-high window in a sharp rustle of wind.]

Hiroshi: Just for that trick, I would have liked to be a martial artist.

[Cuts to a random rooftop in Nerima, on which Ranma and Tofu are standing on.]

Ranma [asking with excitement in his voice]: Tell me, good Tofu. What said Ukyou?

Tofu [purposely talking in circles as he smiles an unreadable smile]: Well, my boy. You DO
have taste in women: wherever that comes from given your upbringing. What can I say? Ukyou-san is indeed an exceptional, courageous young-women . . .

Ranma [looking impatient]: I KNEW all that already! What said Ukyou? Has she got the
wedding arranged yet or not?!

Tofu [pretending to be dismissive] : Come, Ranma-kun. Let's get ourselves home: your mother
might be worried about her little boy being away for too long.

Ranma [looking incredulous]: I'm talking about my entire future here, and you're telling me to
go home to sooth my MOM'S needless worries?!

Tofu: Ranma-kun! How could be so inconsiderate to your own mother? Obviously, you are still
not mature enough yet to part-take the role of a husband! I shall now leave you here to
contemplate this on your own-

Ranma [cutting him off]: Tofu! You're not talking sense! Come! WHAT SAID UKYOU?!?!

[Tofu stops toying with Ranma's patience and looks into his eyes.]

Tofu: Have you made up a good excuse to your parents for your absence from the house this
afternoon?

Ranma [looking anxious]: I have . . .

Tofu [smiling with a conspiratory glint on his glasses]: Then let's get dressed up and get yourself
to the Nerima Cathedral, for there waits a girl longing to become your WIFE!

[Ranma leaps up and shouts in excitement.]
Ranma [to the direction of the cathedral as he lands]: UCCHAN! HERE I COME!

[Cuts to some time later inside the cathedral, where the ceremony is being held. The Father of
the chapel has agreed to marry the couple after Sister Hinako's persuasion, and is now waiting at
the front of the chapel. The choir is now singing a more or less traditional song for the occasion
as Ranma (now in a tux) and his best man (Tofu) waits for the bride to come into the scene.]

Choir: Everybody's free,
     Everybody's free~
     To feel God,
     To feel God~

[At this point, Ukyou, now wearing a simple but elegant white gown, comes in with Kurumi
throwing flower petals in front of her and a modestly dressed Shampoo walking behind her. She
looked happy and slightly bashful at the same time. Ranma's face lights up as he stares at her
beauty. Ukyou raises the back of her right hand to Ranma, and Ranma winks at her and takes
out an actual diamond ring from his pocket.]

Choir: Brother and sister together will make it through,
     Ah Yeah~
[Ranma takes her hand and the two of them walks up to the alter in slightly nervous but happy
steps.]

Choir: Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there,

[Shampoo and Kurumi both look excited as they stare after the couple, whereas Tofu looks after
them with a fond smile.]

Shampoo [sighing]: Him VERY cute. If Ukyou no have him first, maybe Shampoo . . .

Kurumi [sighing]: My lucky cousin. Only the second time that she has been in love, and already
the girl has got the best fish in the pond.

Choir: I know you've been hurting,
But I've waiting to be there for you~
     And I'll be there
     Just helping you out
     Whenever I can~
     Everybody's free~

[Meanwhile, Sister Hinako waits for them right beside the Father.]

Sister Hinako [to the young couple]: Remember, young ones: with this union comes the
responsibility to overcome that hated grudge between your clans. A wedding concerns not just
two people, but their respective families as well. To ensure it's success, you two MUST try to
get your families to approve on it, no matter how long this will take.

[Ukyou and Ranma nods solemnly at this.]

Father: May the groom give the bride the ring.

[Ranma puts the ring on Ukyou's finger as he takes off the "engagement band" for her. Ukyou's
smile blossoms with happiness at seeing the wedding ring. Ranma leans down with a gentle
smile, and the two kisses each other. Shampoo, Kurumi and Tofu began showering the two of
them with ribbons and coloured paper-shreds as the couple hugs each other as if their lives
depends on it.]

Choir: Everybody's free~
     Yeah, everybody's free~
     Yeah~

                           End Part 5
