This is a fun fic I'm writing to celebrate my recent reawakening of my
NES (yes, the original, and still one of the best!). It is working fine
after a half hour of cleaning and button pushing (you remember, when in
doubt press reset!). I am currently trying to wipe out level three of
Blaster Master (one of the coolest games ever made, IMO. If you know
this one, then you realize what a pain the boss of this stage can be).
I also am drudging through Hyrule again trying to save ye ol' Princess
(the pixelated little minx). So, I thought I'd write a fic here.
However, it took me a while to think of what to write. After some
consideration I have decided on Metroid. That means I need only one
character from an anime to fill the roll so recently occupied by Samus
(mind you, I haven't seen these names recently, I just remember them,
sad I know). Now, who to fill the good woman's high jump boots? Given
the role, I think it should stay female (as it was a big leap in gaming
to have a woman running about the planet's surface saving the universe).
Wow, that just totally narrows it down. Due to the recent talk of using
lesser known anime's, I think I'll look to the, um, lesser known
anime's. So, no Ranma (I can see him getting killed off trying to kick
the sh*t out of Riley instead of using missles), no Sailor Moon (thank
God), no Magic Knight Rayearth (none of them would fit in the suit
anyway), no KOR (Madoka in full battle armor, intriguing :), no
Evangelion (Asuka would just laugh at the measly little suit anyway),
and no Bubble Gum Crisis (though, that would definately fit!). Okay, so
what to use? Ah! Got it! Plastic Little! Might as well. So,
finally, here we go...
PM Productions Presents
A Phillip Masters Fanfic
Metroid starring Captain Tita!!
(Insert Particularly Wacky Disclaimer here)

Somewhere in some universe Captain of the Cha Cha Maru, Tita, is
awakening for another day of hunting. Unbeknownst to her, in another
dimension, a one Samus Airan (sp?) is arriving on a desolate planet to
destroy a malicious intelligence known as Mother Brain. What neither of
them also don't know is that space is about to play a rather nasty trick
on them. For, in the blink of an eye they are switched, body and soul.
Samus winds up in the shower, and Tita finds herself in full battle
gear, transporting to the planet Zebes.
Now, following Samus would probably be quite amusing and whimsical.
However, Tita's adventure is going to much more exciting, so to Zebes we
go. More specifically, under the ground. For under the planets surface
is an expansive network of tunnels Mother Brain as deemed home. Now,
when transporting to the designated point, Samus's equipment was thrown
all about the underground due to a slight miscalculation in rock
density. In short, this means Tita is stuck with just basic armor and a
short shot plasma weapon. Life sucks sometimes doesn't it?
Tita found herself standing on a rock platform, in a rather dank
catacomb. What was even more odd, was the fact that she seemed to be
encased in some sort of suit. After getting over the initial shock of
being suddenly thrust into an alien situation, she began to study her
surroundings and herself more carefully. It seemed no one was around,
so asking for help wouldn't do any good. There were two large blocks of
rock to her right and left spanning the space between the cave walls.
What then got her attention were the small creatures climbing down the
walls of these blocks toward her. She gazed at them closely, trying to
place them in her memory. She couldn't, these were very unknown
organisms.
She tried the last thing she could think of. "Hello?" She asked
in, what she hoped was, a non-aggressive manor.
No dice. The creatures simply plodded along as though nothing
happened. She decided to touch one, hopeing the suit she was wearing
would protect her from any possible danger. Her hand approached the
spikey animal, which was at least half her size. About a foot away, the
spikes extended, catching her hand. She whipped her hand back as she
saw the spikes come in contact with what appeared to a defense field
surrounding her armor. Well, she thought, glad I was right about that.
Something on the suit's visor caught eye. A small counter was set
at thirty. She could have sworn a moment ago it was at thirty five.
She soon deduced that it was her sheild energy guage. She studied the
other read outs in her visor. One was obviously a weapon meter, which
as attached to her left arm. Good thing too, considering she's right
handed. Another meter seemed to be for missles, or rockets according to
the icon next to it. She looked down at her arm launcher. It seemed to
be multi functional, serving a multitude of purposes. At the moment,
when she squeezed her hand, a small ball of energy was released from it,
to dissipate about twenty feet in front of her. At least I'm armed,
Tita thought, not disposed toward the idea of being stuck here without
weapons or protection.
"Now, what am I supposed to do?" She questioned of the air.
Imagine her surprise when she received a response. An electronic
voice in her helmet began to spout mission perameters. Something about
being here to stop the threat of a person named Mother Brain, and use
all force necessary to do so. The indigenous life is hostile and should
be dealt with accordingly. Upgrades and backups have been lost due to
an error, so she would have to search the labarynth for the needed
materials to defeat her foe. Sounded simple enough. Lastly, a complete
tactical readout of the caverns was displayed. Included with this was
the location of her lost supplies.
Tita stood for a moment, absorbing all this new information. So,
it seemed she was to save the galaxy, huh? Well, she'd saved a planet,
guess it's only natural that she advance upward. With that in mind she
looked at the pesky beasts walking along the walls. She pointed her arm
at them and activated her gun. The animal made no sound as it was
snuffed out of existance. She then began walking toward what seemed to
be the closest power up. Something called a 'ball', pretty simple name.
She came to a wall. Above her, about twenty feet was a ledge. How
she was going to advance was a mystery to her. "How do I get up there?"
She wondered out loud.
     The computer obediently replied, "Jump."
Well, she thought, I suppose the comp knows best. She readied
herself and leapt for the ledge. She was amazed to find the suit
enhanced her muscle strength considerably and she easily flew the
twently feet. She landed with a whoosh as the hydraulics in her legs
and shoes absorbed the impact. Soon, she was over the obstruction.
Before her sat the 'ball'. It literally was a ball, much to her
amusement. She reached up and grabbed it. It seemed the ball was just
an outer covering, and it fell off revealing the true addition. It was
a small device, just an centimeter in diameter. "Allright, where does
this go?" She mused.
"In your right breast plate." The suit answered shortly.
Tita found the slight depression in the suit at the chest and
placed the object there. It seemed to become one with the armor, almost
invisible once finished. She saw an icon light up in her visor that
looked like a small ball. Then, the word 'testing' appeared in her
sight.
Tita let out a shriek as she felt herself wrap up into a tight
little sphere. How she managed to do it was way beyond her, but here
she was. While her body was compacted, her sight remained in whatever
direction she wanted to go in. Rather convenient. She rolled about a
bit, thinking of how stupid she must look right now. This was the first
time she took comfort in the fact that there wasn't another reasoning
soul within thousands of light years.
After rolling under the big rock she had jumped over though a small
passageway she had missed earlier, she straightened out again. It was
shocking how little she felt as she folded and unfolded. One would
think it would hurt a bit, or at least be uncomfortable.
Now, she had to go get the long beam, an expansion for her gun.
Something struck her as she thought of the stuff she had to retrieve.
This was going to take a lot longer than she originally thought. Well,
she told herself, not going to get anything done standing her collecting
dust!
With that, she ran off to parts unknown, arm blaster at the ready.
END???
Okay, I obviously am not going to write this entire story here and now.
For one, I'm just to darn tired! Anyone is perfectly welcome to
continue it (might as well offer). I realize this was pretty much a
novelization of the original game, but I'm not all that creative at the
moment, and I used all my energy figuring out the way Tita was supposed
to learn the situation without dying, and quickly if possible. Comments
are most welcome, this was a fun fic, but I still like to hear from
people. This is PMasters, awaiting Metroid 64 (oh, yea!), signing off.
