like it to end this way for them. Also, speaking medically, Ranma should
be remembering more than she is (nothing) at this point.
As an afterthought, please don't end this by having Ranma get konked on
the head again, old memories replacing the new, let him/her be torn
between the two lives.
Unlike slapstick comedy, the treatment for a concussion is not another
concussion.
Actually, there is a type of brain injury where everything, including
memory, is fine except that the person can never learn nothing new. There
have been several well-documented cases where that part of the brain which
is the bridge between short-term memory and long-term memory was damaged,
but the person was otherwise fine; no damage to intellect, emotional
balance, personality, or memory. I figure that the above condition would
be good for a darkfic or sadfic.

Of course Ranma's case in this story suggests that his amnesia is
psychological. He can't remember because he doesn't want to remember.
Traumatic amnesia would not leave him with his skills and reasoning
power intact. Now, this could be because the curse wants to have it's
day and is keeping him from remembering. However it's also possible
that the cloyingly sweet homelife with Akane the berserk
super-homemaker, is getting on Ranma's nerves more than he will admit,
enough that he wants an escape that no one can blame him for, and so
he has retreated from conscious awareness of his responsibilities.
After all, in his new life he is far more free, and exploring aspects
of his sexuality that were previously out of the question.
