I'm too lazy]

It was quiet, too quiet ussually 'grandmas' coffee would have taken
affect by now. Her brew could jump start a seventeen old kawasaki.
"Leon-chan rough night?" He joked. It was their morning ritual, he'd try
to come onto him; and Leon would shot him down. No one except the occasional
rookie took it seriously. "Their's this massage place that'll do wonders."
No response. "Leon?" He looked over to his friend, "You alright?"
"Turn left."
"The crime scene is..." Without warning, his partner grasped the
wheel wrenching it in this direction. The roadchaser swerved through the
turn cutting across several lanes of traffic. Daley quickly grabbed the
wheel and straightened the car out. "What the fuck?" Leon chuckled, it
sounded strange for his 'quit intellectual' partner to start cursing. "Leon?
are you nuts."
"Stupid question," He murmured, "Just take right onto the
connector." Daley saw the dark look riple across his friends face.
"The cemetary," Daley whispered, "oh fuck, You could have told me."
Leon cracked a forced smile, "Got an image to protect."

Slowly, he walked down a slight slope towards the headstones. They
were lined up, ordered so perfectly. The opposite of his life.
'I thought we were friends.'
'I thought you were one of us; I was wrong.'
'I've dreamed of becoming a detective all my life'
'we don't wait for people to die before we go out and risk our lives.'
Their arugement in the storage room of the garage rang into his ears. He'd
heard her arguements before by other troopers in the interservice jabs and
taunts that were occasionally sounded in the locker rooms.
Jeena's words seemed so empty now that he looked back. They seemed like
reflex more than her own words. It was like she was repeating all those old
interservice crap all over again. A pain gripped his chest. He leaned
against a nearby tree and gathered his thoughts
So consumed by anger and confusion, he didn't bother to listen. He
didn't bother to wonder about that look he saw deep in her eyes... Now, that
was a mute point. He rested his head against the rough bark. "Why did you
just tell me," he choked taking off his shades and wiping the tears from his
eyes.
"I should've been there," a low voice cut through the stillness of
grounds. He edged slowly from the tree and peaked around the corner. "I
should be in your place. Damnit...." A women knelt before his friends fresh
grave. She was pretty with a natural beauty not like those 'fake'
supermodels with all their crash diets and airbrushing. She was caucasion
with her brown hair trimmed short. "At least I should've been lying right
next to you."
Leon closed his eyes listening to the words.
"I know you'd be ragging on me about this. 'Suck it in and keep
moving.'" The women chuckled. He could hear her start to choke up a bit.
"You always had to move on never looking back just once." Leon bit his
lip surpressing his urge to talk to the women just to hold onto Jeena's
memory for awhile longer. So many friends had died in service, he'd grieve
when it happen at times he forgot the sound of their voice or their names.
"Jeena, you trusted me so much, but their was always something...at
the tip of your tongue...I knew Jenna. I knew. You didn't have to run away
from it or hold it back. I remember when that asshole 'copter pilot called
you a c-psycho. Anyone who saw the look in your eyes would've known. All
those things you did, all those guys you..., you were human all along. It
isn't something you had to prove to yourself." The women began to sob.
Leon dug his fingernails into his knuckles trying to hold back his own tears.
Everything clicked into place. [How could I been so stupid?] He
screamed to himself. [Jeena, oh god....I'm sorry...I'm so sorry.] The
memories began to rise from his mind: her telling him of her fears about
Billy Fanword, the phantom pains she used to massage away that disappeared
only to return....so many more like it over the course of two years.
A long period of silence followed. He guessed the women was
composing herself. He was.
"Jeena where ever you are, I hope you found the peace you were always
looking for. I hope we all do." Leon wiped his tears and took a deep
breath. He left his hiding spot and walked towards the grave. The women
stood and turned not noticing him. They were steps away before she looked
up.
"What are you doing here?" She asked suddenly recognizing the ADP's
star detective. He looked past her towards the grave marking.
"I was her partner for two years." The women shook her head.
"She never mentioned you."
Leon looked towards the ground, "We had a falling out." The women
walked past him. He turned quickly and reached out.
"Wait, what's your name?"
"Annabelle Wilson." She didn't bother to face him. Who knows what
she thought of him.
"Maybe we can have a toast," He said. She turned a scowl on her
face. Leon turned back and glanced back at the grave marking. "for a great
partner." Annabelle smiled slightly.
"and a friend." Leon couldn't agree more.

Daley gave him an odd look as he entered the squad car. "What?"
The red head reached out and put a comforting hand onto his shoulder. It
wasn't a come or anything of that sort. It was from one friend to another.
"I'm always here." Daley withdrew his hand and started the car.
"Daley, thanks."
"No problem." Leon closed his eyes for a moment bringing up a
memory.
"Did I never tell you about Jenna Malso....."
