Well Akane, just make sure he keeps the self-insertion to himself.

I love it because of the humor.
In short I like the entire cast of Ranma.  Each builds off of the other...

Yes, that's Rumiko, but's she's done better.

Hint: Rumiko thinks that martial arts are funny, in the Jackie Chan
style. (And Ninja are clowns)

If you take any of the violence seriously, you are losing touch with the
source material and should switch from the anime to the manga.
