Breaking my self-imposed exile for a moment.
Interesting story! I never heard of this Moorcock before.
What has he written?
Literally TONS of stuff!!!
I've been at the pay-rents for the last 3 days and am about to drop
off....too much hay!!!!!
so please ignore the snarky levity of my descriptions.
Um.... let's see, the most common would be the Elric stuff: Albino king
of a dead race runs about bemoaning his fate killing his friends and
having as much fun as an agnst filled-teen (he wears a lot of black as
well) and has a bloody great soul-sucking longsword. Lots of Freudian
mid-adolecent stuff in the writing. -Oh....also cool song "Black Blade"
written about this by Blue Oyster Cult
And Dave Sim as Elrod the Albino ("Boy...ah say, boy")
then Corrum : Non-Albino noble of a dead race runs around having romantic
troubles killing Nasty Gods and aquiring a soul-trapping hand and eye.
In the second series he gets involved with a Lovecraftiean interpetation
of Celtic (primarily Irish) mithology.
Jerry Cornelius and co. Shifless savior of mankind....or it's destroyer
buggers about with time, alternate Earths, Sex, drugs and a light spritz
of Rock and ROll.....
Not To Mention my favorite part (well in some worlds)
AIRSHIPS
AIRSHIPS
AIRSHIPS
And Hawkmoon (Like the band Hawkwind) Tormented noble fighting a reelious
war in a twisted Futuristic Feudal Technochracy that looks like it was
designed by the games comany that brought us warhamer 3000ad....
All are sort of incarnations of a single mystic individual...
Serena in some parts seemed a little too intelligent sometimes, but I
supposed she was acting on instinct in this strange place.
How about.....as other more stable "parts" of her personality were
present in the form of other her incarnations.....subconciously she formed
a rapport with these and was stronger.....also, she was closer to her
"Moon Princess" persona and so had (again unconciously) those skills and
confidences.....
Ya,
I'dd buy that.....but then Hell, I wrote it.
I'm very curious as to the story of Selene...and what her true name is.
Who knows...but then I find (and this may just be bad luck on my part) I'm
always a bit attracted to the doomed self destructuive ones who will
totally consume me long efore the white-hot heat of their own demise....
But then again....That could just be who I've been engaged to and gone out
with.....My friends think I'dd be perfect for Linna Inverse or Azusa
however....
I
don't suppose there will be a sequel?
Brrrrr...
(I guess this is sort of C&C for my own stuff)
To be honest.... alot of what I wrote (whien I re-read it) did not seem
like "me" writing. which was sort-of good because I was (at least
stylisticly) trying to be/write in another's style (which perhaps did not
come through as muich as I would have liked, ut The whole ppiece (ecept
for the opening and the ending) had a sort of "alien" feel about it in
writing....I would slip little bits of me in ut they seemed to get glossed
over.
I doubt it strongly unless somebody else is writing it....for some reason
it ewas one of the hardest things for me to contine on.....I wrote the
intro, the end and about 4 pages in the story in 2 evening/afternoons....
The rest was forced out at aout a paragraph every 3 weeks or so.....
I finally decided I would finish it or perish and wrote from the second
mental contact thingy to the group falling asleep (just before the end)
The night I submitted it....along with a few little changes....
Like I said ..The whole thing started out as an idea for a page or two
spamfic after I got back from a new-years party.
Heck I'dd love to see "9 Senshi in Amber" but I'm not gonna write that onm
either.....
Neil
Who struggles with both
my stupid "b" key which I have to pound
and who think "Robyn" is a girl.
(Which is pretty silly.....'cause then I'dd have to say
Robyn, Duchess of Amber....)
Araugh, I'm nattering...I must sleep.
