I believe the outrageously long waits _are_ the problem. I know all about
them; Jeanne was kind enough to help me post Smoke and Mirrors to them
some time back. It took two months and 6 letters of inquiry to be finally
put on RAAC, and without Jeanne's kind help and assistance it would likely
still be in limbo.
I know that many (some?) people have no problem with their moderators;
fics sent in appear within a two-week period. I would submit that while
much of RAAC runs quite smoothly, the few(?) moderators who do take
forever to post are fouling the gears for those unlucky enough to be
assigned to them.
As a show of annoyance with the situation, and also a hopeful remedy, I'd
like to propose the following. Have a prominient author (I'd reccomend Mr.
Lawson, as he was the one to orignally start this thread) take up a
petition of sorts, with all those who've had trouble or time delays with
their moderators signing on. Then send the collection of names to Mr.
Edmonds, demanding that the moderators at fault either shape up or be
dropped. If neither happpens, consider the institution of a replacement
for RAAC.
