I couldn't agree more. The other day, someone on RAAF posted a note 
asking about his fanfic and why it hadn't been posted to RAAC yet, 
and being familiar with this type of experience from back when I 
could actually post my *own* stuff, I told him, "Give it six weeks. 
That's about how long RAAC usually takes."

RAAC has always been like this, and lately it seems to have gotten 
even worse. Here's a little story from my personal experience:

Two weeks ago, my newsreader suffered a breakdown. I can no longer 
post anything to RAAC even if I want to, because my newsreader 
software gets picky if I try. But, before that, I was trying to post 
the first act of Onna: Red Side. I used the first chapter as a test 
post, with a nice, polite note to the moderators asking them to take 
the seven chapters I was posting and string them together. I sent out 
the first chapter, and my newsreader confirmed that it went through.

I didn't even get the automated reply letter from RAAC. I re-posted 
the chapter ten times, and STILL never get the automated response.

THAT is sad. And I know it wasn't a newsreader error, because my 
posts to other groups were going through just fine.

It's become obvious that the RAAC moderation team is dragging along. 
We, the fanfiction community, need to make a public outcry against 
this.

To that end, I propose a suggestion. We need to rally a demonstration 
against RAAC, to show them that we're not going to stand for this any 
longer. If they're going to exist, they need to work with us instead 
of against us.

So, that being said, here is my idea. 

Although I would normally be the first person to *discourage* this, I 
suggest that beginning now, all of us whose fanfics aren't being 
posted by RAAC, begin posting our stories to the un-moderated fan 
discussion group, rec.ars.anime.fandom. This will undoubtedly upset 
many people, and may start a few flame wars. But, it will be noticed 
immediately if many fanfiction authors begin posting their stories to 
an unmoderated discussion group. Maybe then, the RAAC moderators will 
understand our frustration, and begin to remedy the situation.
