I'm trying to finish a fanfic, and then this gets to me...
Grr... better get it out of my system before I lose it...
Catchy title, ne? Trust me... it would fit... if it could...

The blond, bespectacled man hunched over the keyboard, staring
at the glowing screen before him.
He stared at a few words that were not doing anything but staying
put. He blinked some, then typed.
"What'ya doin', 'Peng?"
Without looking up, he addressed the short, brown-haired colleague.
"I am conferencing with an affiliate of ours in Tokyo."
The latter glanced slightly over to the empty secretary's chair,
just past the filing cabinets. "I was sort of thinking that, well,
since she's on her day off, well... that you'd take her out or
something."
It was an open secret that the redhead had had pinings for the tall,
scientist. "She... went out with Luis."
The shorter man felt his jaw fall two feet. "You... you're jealous.
The Vulcan found a heart."
Only then did the on-line doctor turn to face him. "It may occur to
you that this is all none of your... our business." Feeling himself
slip another notch, he returned to his conmunication.
The one in the brown jumpsuit didn't pursue the topic. He just went
through a door to get something from the fridge.
"So, what does 'our affiliate in Tokyo' say she wants, anyhow?" He
asked, gripping the door handle.
He reaffixed his red-rimmed glasses, and said, "she wants a copy of
the book. I had almost sent it through electronically, but she had
suggested to see it in person."
"In person?" The voice in the kitchen sounded incredulous.
"That's why I'm taking a trip there tomorrow. And you're going with me."
"What?" The voice sounded choked this time.
"She said that there would be a meeting there this week, and several of
our other affiliates were going as well."
"Well," the other replied, "I always wanted to see Mount Fuji." Then he
screamed.
"Peter!" The man on the console jumped up, and ran to the kitchen.
On the floor, a dripping Dr. Venkman pulled himself up, shaking his fists
with fury. "Slimer!"

Yakumo and Ling Ling had rushed on to her flat, after the last bit. It
had actually gotten nasty: he had to summon Tu Chao to restrain the
beast, while Ling Ling had put on the ward. A hefty amount exchanged
hands, which would explain the grin and the air of delirious ecstacy
the woman had.
The youngish man was of course sullen. He had been that way since he
had come looking for Ling Ling, a while back. He wanted to go straight
to his flat, and mope (meditate, he called it) until he was needed. Or
until a contact would come up with a new lead.
But she had insisted that he stay for a while. And because she was
driving, the point would have been moot.
Her flat wasn't that much for an editor-in-chief of a weekly magazine.
The living room wasn't that spacious, and it doubled for a dining room
as well. The four other rooms he could see doors to weren't visible,
though. He picked up an issue of "Guns and Ammo".
Ling Ling reappeared with some dinner. Surprisingly, it wasn't the cup
noodles they usually had. Yakumo figured it was some takeout Chinese,
but the smell was oddly... homemade.
She slid into a seat, then served herself. Yakumo got a plate and some
chop suey, as well as some tea. He took a bite, and chew on it.
"Never knew you could cook."
"Never said I couldn't," she replied.
The dinner was consumed in silence.
She looked distracted, while Yakumo finished off his tofu. "Y'know,
Yakumo..."
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering... it's kind of late. Why not stay here tonight?"
He didn't quite catch the sentiment. "It's the usual time I leave.
I'll be okay." He had a quirkly smile. "It's not as though I'd get
killed out there."
Ling Ling stood, coming alongside the zombie. "Yes, but..." She
gave herself a boost of confidence, and kissed him full on the lips.
Yakumo sat there with his eyes bulging. She broke the kiss after a
few more seconds.
He stared at her, then stood up. "I've got to leave." With that,
he did.
She looked abashed, and sat down. She idly started to rifle through
whatever magazines were there, sighing slightly.
Under an issue of "Boo", an envelope sat there.

The man told the woman, "the invitations were sent."
The woman nodded. "And the hotel reservations?"
The man said, "taken care of."
The woman nodded again. She hesitated before she said anything.
"I... I've got a bad feeling."
The man looked worried. "About the meeting?"
The woman hissed, "yes, about the meeting. The world's greatest
paranormal experts, all represented in one place. It's bound to
cause trouble."
