Hello out there in fanfic land!  In the beginning there was Two Hearts
of One Mind by Scriviner, and it was good.  There was a cry from the
darkness that another be written.  I answered this cry, only to be
interrupted by the author proclaiming he would continue at a later date.
Slightly (ever so slightly) dejected, I tried to turn back to my current
fanfic projects.  However, as I sat at the keyboard, I just couldn't get
Evangelion out of my mind.  I happen to have been working on Sailor Moon
at the time (in fanfic form, all you sick minded people).
*Crow*:  You said it, not us!
Doh!  Touche.  Allright, anyway, my mind naturally (or whatever) mixed
the two.  I am now putting to electrons what I came up with.  
Some pre-notes:
This fic has the following characters from both series's:
Asuka, Shinji, the Sailor Senshi, Mamoru, and an assorment of baddies
(there will be some other smaller parts, but this is the major).  Sorry,
Rei fans (hey, I like her and all [I'm wearing a shirt with her picture
on it right now], but.. well.. she's just not here).
Excuse any grammer and spelling mistakes.
Historians Note:
Takes place before Queen Baryl's death, and after Volume Five of Eva.
Um, that about does it... um...

Common Destinies
An Evangelion/Sailor Moon fic

Part One:  It's Godzilla, no, it's Gamera, no, it's... it's... what the
hell is that?

     "Asuka!  What the heck is that?!"
     "How am I supposed to know, Shinji?  But it doesn't seem to be
moving, and we can't blow it up, so I'd mark it 'trivial' at the
moment."
     "Trivial?!  It's a hole in space, and you call it trivial?!"
     Asuka Langley stared at the phenomenon with everything her Eva had.
The most advanced imaging and scanning equipment known to man, and
according to it, the thing didn't exist!  Something was blocking light!
Something, _anything_, had to be there!  "Well, what do want to do about
it, genius?!"  She screamed, trying in vain to hide the fact that she
had absolutely no clue as to what the thing was.      Shinji fared no
better.  "I don't know!  What do you think, Rei?"
     As if a computer had been activated, Rei's apathetic response came,
"I think we should find out more from Central Command."
     Asuka was fed up.  "Opinionated, isn't she?"  She declared
sarcastically.  "Rei, if we can't see anything, they sure as hell
can't!"
     In front of the arguing teens, the object that had drawn the
attention of all of Tokyo was beginning to grow.  It was a large, black,
disc about four kilometers in diameter.  Soon, it reached five.
     An alarm went off in Shinji's tube as his sensors registered the
growth.  "Guys, I think somethings happening!"  He yelled, silencing
Asuka.
     All eye's went to the disc.  Still, nothing could be detected
outside the visible spectrum.  It was just expanding, slowly but surely.
     "Maybe you three should back off a bit?"  This was from Major
Kitsunagi down in NERV Central.
     "Why?"  Came the defiant reply from Asuka.  "The thing isn't
actually 'doing' anything!  It's just widening!"
     By this time, the oddity had blocked out the sun, it having almost
done so in the first place.  This occurance, however, did have an effect
on Eva sensor readings.
     "Hey!  I'm getting something!"  Asuka cried out, excited.
     "I copy that!  I've got it too!"  Shinji replied.
     "I as well."  Rei threw in, betraying a little enthusiasm.
     "What do you have?"  Kitsunagi asked, NERV's surface sensing
equipment was not in it's shadow yet, it seemed.
     Shinji answered, "I am detecting an unknown particle.  Highly
energetic, and as highly unstable."
     "Anyone else?"
     Asuka threw in her two cents.  "He's right.  The databanks have
nothing on it.  The quark configuration is amazing!  There's something
else, something odd."
     "What's that!?"  Kitsunagi was getting a bad feeling about this,
and was tired of being in the dark like this.
     "There is something in the particle that seems to be, oh my God!"
Asuka's voice began to raise in pitch.  "That thing is distorting space
somehow!  Not only space..."
     Major Kitsunagi stared blankly at the tactical overhead as the line
went dead.  "Asuka!?  Shinji?!  Rei?!"  Only static answered her.
"Someone get me a reliable outside camera!"  She barked, her spine
tingling with the thought that something had happened to the three
children in her care.  She almost fainted as she watched Eva two and
three vanish from the giant 3D tactical map.  "What the hell!?"  She
screamed.  "Rei!?  Rei!?  Can you hear me!?"
     Rei awoke to the familiarity of the emergency ward.  What happened
this time?  She wondered as she stared at the white ceiling.  A few
moments later, the door opened.  She turned her head to stare at
Kitsunagi as she walked into the room.
     "How are you feeling Rei?"  The Major asked, scrutinizing the
girl's frail body.  Other than a few IV's nothing seemed to be wrong.
     "I am fine, what happened to the other's?"  Rei's brow creased
slightly in worry as she posed the question.
     Kitsunagi sighed, this was not going to be fun.  "Uh, Rei, I'm
afraid they didn't make it back."
     Rei barely showed any outward emotion as she silently stared at the
purple haired woman before her.  Finally, she cut through the thickening
air, "Are they..."
     Kitsunagi broke that thought off quickly.  "No!  I mean, we don't
know for sure."
     "What do you mean?"
     "Well, they just seemed to dissapear."
     Shinji opened his eye's to find himself in total darkness.
Fortunately, his training had prepared him for this posibility.
Obviously, all power had been lost from the Eva.  He knew he was still
in it because of the neural links.  They were more biological than
technological, so stayed active no matter what happened to the power
source.  He even had enough residual feeling to tell he was under water.
A nearby 'feeling', as this was the only way he could explain it, told
him Asuka was there as well.  She was fine, what truly worried him was
the absence of Rei.  What had happened to her?  Suppose there's only one
way to find out, he told himself.  
     He reached behind himself, over his head, and pulled the emergency
expusion system.  He felt the dull thud of the exploding bolts firing,
and felt himself rising.  The tube was floating to the surface, now free
of the Eva.  Boy, Shinji thought, dad's going to be pissed when he finds
out about this!  He actually gained a bit of joy from this, as he had
not yet forgiven his father for what he had done.
     He felt himself level out, and worked the manual release on the
tube door.  He swung it open, and was surprised to find it dark outside.
It had been morning when they went out to investigate the strange
object.
     "Hey!"  
     Shinji turned to the familiar voice.  Asuka was waving to him from
her own tube.  
     She continued, "About time you got up here!"
     Against his usual judgement, Shinji ignored her stab.  He looked
around, trying to discern where they'd ended up at.  He was taken aback
by the fact that there was a city right next to him.  They were in a
harbor of some kind.  Shinji couldn't tell much more in the dark.
Except that the city didn't look like any he knew.
     "Odd huh?"  
     He looked back to Asuka.  "What's that?"
     "I said 'odd', I don't recognize that place, do you?"
     He shook his head in negation.  "Well, we'll never know floating
about here.  What do you say about going on shore and seeing for
ourselves?"
     "Sure, why not?"  She attempted to hide her interest, but wasn't
faring too well.
     The two of them used the onboard maneuvering thrusters to get to
port in no time.  Upon arrival, they sunk the tubes, directing them to
return to the Eva's until further instruction.
     "So,"  Shinji asked, "where to first?"
     Both of them studied their surrounding again.  Still baffled, they
made their way to a nearby corner store.  It seemed sort of ancient to
them.
     "This is quite confusing."  Stated Asuka as they entered the
seemingly out-of-date shop.
     Shinji nodded, his eye's passing over candy bars, cigarettes, and a
stack of newspapers.  He blinked.  His gaze shot back to the papers.
His eye's widened considerably.  He reached over to Asuka, who was
studying a magazine, and pulled her over to him.
     "What is it?"  She asked, a bit indignantly.
     However, Shinji had lost all cognitive thought.  
     Asuka folloed his line of sight to what had spooked him so.  She
gasped.  The paper declared it to be 1987!
     Setsuna was shook out of her reflections by a strange feeling.  It
was as if a shockwave had passed through her, but more on a mental level
than a physical one.  She stared out into the ether of time, when a
sudden thought frightened her.  "No,"  She whispered, "not them.  Not
now."
     She turned to stare into the portal of time, the lantern nearby
casting an eerie glow over her worried face.
END DUE TO INCREASED FATIGUE!
For now anyway.  I am beat.  I shall continue tomorrow or the next day.
