I would guess that they have at lest basic sealed  enviromentals as they
are often around what could be considerd "Dangerous Enviroments." (poison
gas, polutants, highly ionized moist air, superheated steam and some
vaporized metal)  Would at least have a minimum of stand-alone
life-support which they could use if need be
 (re-breathers and maybe 2-30 min of "pure" air) maybe
an hour at the most -more if they had some sort of mission pack which
would prolong that. ---I am probaly OVERESTIMATING durations here.

The fact that the hardsuits suits appear to be a ceramic compisite
ceartanly suggests they would not really like 
1) sudden freezzing
2) sharp impacts afterwards.

 Ya, I could see them shattering unless they were previously
sprayed/coated with something that would "sluce" away the freezing
material (probably easier to get rid of a "beam" of liquid (except ti
might knock you over like a firehoze) than an actual ray-beam...in my
opinion of course.....
