Sorry for the long subject.  One (fairly) simple solution is to set up an
email address and person to track author/story lists.  (I realize that
this is, in and of itself, a hellishly large task.)  Perhaps the same said
person can only track fics by month, and put up a year/month list of
released stories and authors on a webpage? (i.e. If you want to find a
story done in June, 1996, you can go there, or perhaps search by author). 

Just a thought..
