Who in the great Kami's underbelly wrote this and thought it was
intelligent?

Obviously this Dave Barry character is not a real reporter.  From what I
gathered from the article, he asked questions of a friend about Power
Rangers...then goes half cocked about Sailor Moon.  Furthermore, he
continues to bash Sailor Moon.  Now, I will agree that the Americanized
version is not as good as the original, Japanese version, but that goes
without saying.  Plus, ranting about how Barbi should still be a roll
model to young children, I mean, who cares!  Sailor Moon is a cartoon,
Barbi is a toy, the Power Rangers are a TV characters in funny outfits.
What the writer of this article failed to mention is that we should not
let children's rolemodels be a marketed product.  Instead, we need to be
the rolemodels.  How many people act like thier favorite television
character?  Most people I know act similiarly to the person or people
that raised them.  *Sigh*  I know this is more ranting than a rational
train of thought, but it REALLY pisses me off that one of my own
countrymen has the gall and audacity to be such a nimrod.  Please tell
me, how many of you out there take on characteristics of television
characters because they are "Role models"?  Personnally, I liked what
some characters did, but I learned my values from family, not a movie/TV
show/toy.  I can see it now, "American Leaders of Tommorrow:  the "I
grew up like a Toy generation."  geesh, what a buch of B.S.

I better quite before I start on a rant that'll last WAY too long and
keep me from making to class on time.
