One I won't have time for for a long time, if ever...so if you
like it, feel free.
The Price of Power
At the conclusion of a battle with some overpowered mystic
thingie, there's an explosion. Ranma throws his body over Akane's to
protect her, and a shard of something goes through him and into her. It
feels like something tore partially out of him, but there's no mark on
either of them.
A day or two later, Ranma gets splashed...and nothing happens.
"I'm cured!"
However, the next day a water-related disaster occurs and the
Tendou and Saotome families are called out to help rescue people. Akane
gets separated from the others, and finds a small child trapped beneath
something too large for her to lift. No one's in sight to help and she
begins to panic. Suddenly, Akane has a surge of adrenaline and is able
to easily toss the object aside. As she carries the child to safety, she
hears a familiar voice.
"Shoulda known it was too good to last." Ranma has reverted to
female form in the cold water.
Akane thinks it was a freak thing at first, but soon learns that
whenever she has an adrenaline surge, she becomes faster than a speeding
bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and able to leap tall buildings
in a single bound. Ala the super soba and Ultimate Dougi stories, she
goes a little powermad, wiping the floor with Shampoo, tying knots in
Kunou's bokken, that sort of thing.
However, it's pointed out to her that whenever she uses her
powers, Ranma changes to girl form. (After the first couple of times,
there isn't any coincidental water splash to confuse the issue.) Akane
is apologetic for not noticing, Ranma both grouses and tries to reassure
her. "It ain't like I'm not kinda used to it." Akane tries to be more
moderate in the use of her powers for a while.
But then superpowered criminals start popping up in Tokyo, and
possibly a small alien invasion... Akane has to do something, and as
"Mighty Girl", she can.
Unfortunately, the more Akane uses her powers, the longer Ranma
stays in girl form...and the more stereotypically feminine he starts to
act. And he's not always snapping all the way back between times... It
becomes painfully evident that Akane's powers are feeding off Ranma's
masculinity, and he's beginning to lose his reserves.
Akane is about to vow to never use her powers again--when it's
revealed the overpowered mystic thingy from the opening, nastier than
ever, is heading for Tokyo. The military is helpless. Only Mighty Girl
can save the day...but if she does, she might lose the man she's grown
to love forever.
