Hello all!

I know it has been awhile since I last posted my Tea Kettle
reviews (about six months ago, sigh), so I have decided to
give some quick reviews.

Q: What is Suds-kun’s reviews?
A: Of the fanfics posted to the FFML that catch my eye and I
read, I will write a quick quote and comment. I’ll also list
how to get to the fanfic. FFML Archive Number, URL, Author’s
E-Mail, etc. The story will get a Tea Kettle rating.

Q: What is a Tea Kettle rating?
A: The more Tea Kettles I give, the more I liked/enjoyed the
story. The most I give out are five.

Two = A good fic that caught my attention.
Three = A really good fic that got my interest.
Four = A Great Fic that is heartily recommended.
Five = Awesome Fic!!!! "Whoa!" @.@
dead Ryouga = You went and got me all depressed. If I stop
reviewing after I list your fic, you REALLY
              got me depressed.

Q: Why are your comments so short and don’t really offer any
real suggestions?
A: The purpose of my Tea Kettles is to show how much I enjoyed
reading the story. Typos and grammatical errors don’t bother
me, unless they are _really_ distracting.

Q: Where is the One Tea Kettle?
A: Originally, I wanted my reviews to list _every_ fanfic
posted to the FFML. One Tea Kettle was supposed to state that
the fanfic was posted to the FFML, but I didn’t read the
story. Unfortunately, some viewed the one tea kettle as a
negative review. That’s not what I wanted, so I stopped giving
just One Tea Kettle.

Q: Do you ever review a fanfic that you don’t like?
A: Yes. If the story is so well written that I dislike what
happens to the characters, I’ll give it a review. Richard
Lawson’s "Thy Outward Part" is a good example.

Q: What do I do with the archive number that you list?
A: To retrieve a post from the FFML archive, send an e-mail as
follows:
  MailTo: fanfic-request@fanfic.com
  Subject: archive get
  Message: gimme latest/#####

The ##### is the archive number that I list. A better
description of this is in the FAQ, archive # 39945. (Thanks
Panda for the update!) I used gimme, 'cuz it sounded good ta
me. ^_-

Q: Do you only review Ranma fanfics?
A: Not really. The FFML generates a ton of Ranma fics, so
there will be more Ranma fic reviews than BGC, DHY, YYH, AMS,
TM!, 3X3 EYES, MKR, FY, SM, DBZ, etc.

It's been a while, so I'm going to cover just a few fanfics to
get back into the swing of things.

And awaaay we go!

Ranma: Ranma's Apartment
By Chris Jones

Archival number: 39439

Quick Quote: "I'll be damned if I ever marry a tomboy like
you. Do you hear that? I'm gone, and I ain't never comin'
back."
Comments: The story started out a little slow, but got going
pretty good after the above *snap*, heh. Where's Megumi's mouse?

Ranma: "Nabiki - New Horizons" Part 9
By G.L. Sandborn
Posted by "G.L.Sandborn/Uncle Fester" <sandborn@microlink.net>
Archival number: 39246
Quick Quote: "I'll show you 'reasonable'," she growled
plucking a throwing spatula from the bunch and twirling it in
her fingers in preparation of throwing. "You worm! You
mongrel! You... You..."
Comments: Yep, that’s how I always envisioned the response of
The One True Ucchan. The story size seemed a little small,
though. ^_-

Ranma: "Scarlet Spring" (10/11)
By Henry J. Cobb
Posted by "Henry J. Cobb" <hcobb@slip.net>
Archival number: 38935
URL: http://www.io.com/~hcobb
Quick Quote: "I imagined Shampoo and myself dressed as
matching bridesmaids."
Comments: The first post of chapter 10 was confusing, but this
revised post still has a shocking end. It’s just clearer as to
what happened and to whom.
Three Tea Kettles

Ranma: Meiyo Ai soshite Nikushimi
       Chapter V: Separate Paths
       Part IV: Choosing the Way
By Joseph Kohle
Posted by "Joseph \"Ashira\" Kohle" <Ashira@worldnet.att.net>
Archival number: 39361
Quick Quote: Akane looked miserable. She was soaked, water
dripping from her clothes to pool on the floor.
Comments: I’m happy with Akane’s decision, but I really
dislike Raiko. Grrrrrr.
Five Tea Kettles

Ranma: Nerima Blues ver. 2
By RPM
Posted by RPM - acct 3/5 <rpm39788@Bayou.UH.EDU>
Archival number: 39609
Url: http://www.uh.edu/~rpm/fanfic.htm
Quick Quote: "I wonder," mumbled Ryoga, "I wonder... how she's
doing."
Comments: Heh. The alternate ending was great.
Three Tea Kettles

Ranma: Measure of a Man - Part Three "Lies..."
By Seaneassy
Posted by Seaneassy@aol.com
Archival number: 39833
Quick Quote: "You’ve been crying tonight, haven’t you? Did
Akane make you cry?"
Comments: Let's see, Ranma is being chased by Mousse who tried
to (and did) kill him. Ranma could either cry or go crazy,
like Ucchan.

Ranma: Careful Destiny - Part Four
By Todd Hill
Not posted to FFML
URL: http://www.newberry.edu/sstalker/rancar.htm
Quick Quote: "Geez, I’d really like to know how they’re doing
that,"
Comments: I read the previous version of part four
back in May, no typos back then either. :) I really
like this story line, especially before Roark showed
up. But . . . "The Collected Works of John Tesh and
Bob James"???? brrrrr.

Ranma: Roses of Shadow
By Richard Lawson
Posted by Richard Lawson <sterman@sprynet.com>
URL: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/sterman/fanfic.htm
Archival number: 39111 Part Three: Why Should He Live
Archival number: 39441 Part Four: Days Long Since
Quick Quote #1: Ranma considered, for the first time, the
possibility that she would never let him go.
Quick Quote #2: Kuno shouted incoherently, dropped Kodachi's
hand, jumped from his chair, and grabbed for Ranma's shirt.
Quick Quote #3: She smiled. "I'm glad."
Comment #1: Getting rid of that one fiancee seemed awful
quick. Boom! You're gone!
Comment #2: The end of this story arc was given away in part
two. At this rate, there's probably three or four more parts
until Ranma finds it out himself.

Ranma: Sunset
By CBEAR (Claire Francisco)
Posted by Claire Francisco <cleng@mnl.sequel.net>
URL: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Temple/4978
Archival number: 39465
Quick Quote: "Uh... Akane... something’s burning."
Comments: I like these type of stories. Small admissions after
being poisoned with a home made truth serum (That's a joke,
btw).
Four Tea Kettles

Ranma/3x3 Eyes: Twisted Destiny Part 12
By Lara Bartram
Posted by Lara Bartram <lara@emunix.emich.edu>
URL: http://www.emich.edu/public/llb/
Archival number: 38099
Quick Quote: She trudged tiredly to the bathroom, turned on
the light and closed the door. "What the... I hate this
place!"
Comments: This is a very good take on 3x3 Eyes. I like the
idea that the Ranma 1/2 characters have to come to personal
understandings (ie: grow up) due to the sanjiyan and her wu.
Five Tea Kettles

That's all for now, more soon!

Erata:
There have been approximately 1,500 different postings of
fanfics since I last did a review. All together, I have about
2,000 fanfics waiting to be reviewed. I seriously doubt that I
will be able to cover all of them.

In the future I'll be covering stories not posted to the FFML.
Some from the r.a.a.c. archives, recent r.a.a.c. postings and
stories on web pages.

Ja ne!
