Nor I, I have to admit. I don't know much about MKR, besides the bits in

the Animerica article a few months back. (There are starting to be

enough 

MKR references cropping up that I suppose I really need to learn some 
more about it. <g>) Was the original end in the story this abrupt? The 
'it was all essentially for nothing' ending is really hard for me to 
swallow without quite a bit of preparation, so I felt somewhat cheated

at 

this point in the story.

	Hi. I'm Jiaming, I saw your message and was wondering if you really
wanted to know more about Magic Knight Rayearth. Like you, I knew next to
nothing about this until I heard of a nice anime RPG called MKR which was
based on the cartoon. I combed the web soon after and found lots and lots
of information. I a discovered a japanese laserdisc shop just three days
ago which offered me the entire first season for $8.00. True it was all
Japanese but I know a little Japanese and with the help of some nice
online scripts I understood everything.

	I am sending this to the entire list because I felt that someone else
besides Travis might have the same question.

Note: All evidene taken from the anime and is subject to my
misinterpretation

Okay lets start with the beginning.

1.  Cephrio is a magical kingdom. This kingdom is made up of the willpower
of its 'pillar' which represents             
     its people.

2.  Emerause is that pillar. She fell in love with Zagoto and was unable
to continue praying for Cephiro.           She tried imprisoning herself
but it was no use as she could not stop thinking of him.

3.  She summoned the Magic Knights from Earth to kill her.

Basic Facts <Admittedly I'm skimming a lot here.>

1.  Hikaru, Umi and Fuu were in Tokyo tower when they were called.

2. They met a magician named Clef.

3. This magician taught them Magic 

4. Hikaru controls fire, Umi controls water and Fuu controls wind.

5. With the help of Escudor (a rare mineral) they got magical swords.

6. Throught this time Zagoto sent various troops against the Knights.

7. Alycione was the first. After failing many times she fell into
disfavour. Zagoto is really a nice guy, he           didn't kill her like
most rulers do. (hint, hint Queen Beryl from Sailor Moon).

8. Ascot and Claudia were something like mercenaries who were being paid
by Zagoto. After befriending 
    the Knights they left Zagoto.

9. Rafaga was Emerause's personal bodyguard and was captured along with
her. Placed under a spell he     was sent to kill the Knights. After the
spell wore off, he became friends with the Knights and assisted           
 them against Zagoto.

10. Innova was Zagoto's most loyal servant and was fully aware of his
master's true intentions. He was                  killed in battle.

11. The Knights then managed to awaken  the Mashin (Big, big robots which
can be controlled just like those mecha stuff) which increased their
powers and then attacked Zagoto.

12. After killing Zagoto, Emerause attacked them.

13. During the battle, Emerause's subconcious pleded with the scouts to
kill her to end her pain.

14. Only Magic Knights can kill a pillar.

15. After the pillar's death, the scouts return to Tokyo but rather
unhappily.

There, that's the official ending of the first season. 

Impressions.

1.  Zagoto was probably in my opinion planning to use his death to give
Emerause enough courage to end her suffering.

2.  Due to the fact that MKR is pretty rushed in the sense that it keeps
on going it is hard to find a good place to insert a storyline at all. I
found it very hard to think of anything to write about, however I am
working on an elseworld which I believe is probably the only thing that
can be squeezed inside.

Miscellanary Information

1. What happens after Season 1? Well I'm not really sure of the facts but
I know a bit. 

After the death of the pillar, the world of Cephrio is fading away. The
Magic Knights are called back again to assist in finding a new pillar.
Invaders from other countries are also adding to Cpehiro's problems.
Finally Hikaru is chosen as the pillar!!! She does something (seriously
confused part here) else by abolishing the pillar system and allowing
Cephrio to be formed from the willpower of all its people instead of one
person.

2.  The Knights have a pet called Mokona which can conujure up food,
medicine, even an entire house!!!

3. Mokona is revealed in the Second Season to be the Creator of the
world!!!!!! Can't believe that!!!! Apparently Mokona called the Knights
back in Season 2 and named Hikaru the pillar.
